is the best comedy programme of all time, but only the first series.
I used to agree with you
but I now think the second series is funnier.

it goes from dark, (relatively) subtle and wonderfully scripted to crude, caricature and setpiece-driven. It has its moments but I just don't get it at all.

it's more reliant on stupid set-ups
I suppose the first series is to a large extent too. It's kind of the same as has happened with Peep Show although that has worked much better with the changes.
in that series 4 was almost as good as 1 and 2
