Everywhere i've looked over the last few weeks i'm readind about White fucking Lies. Don't get me wrong, i like two of their tracks, but i think the single's poor and i'm not sure they're any better than Fear of Flying, who i did like. The other is the pissing Ting Tings. I know people/idiots have been raving about them since Sounds From The Other City 07 (or was it 06?), but now they seem to be getting pretty huge, i'm really not sure how. I've been keeping my eye on their stuff on ebay, the White Lies single is regularly going for £30, and the Ting Tings early gig 7"s for over £100, madness. What other bands seem to be getting generic whoppers foaming at the mouth at the minute?

Kid British and the Action Manky

I really wish I was making this up

hmm

and they are actually genius.

To be fair

I've only actually heard their Our House karaoke effort

Yeah

I really hope this doesn't signify a ska punk revival. Is it time for that again, already?

How in the fuck

did those chancers get signed to a major? Has anyone listened to Adio's Premiership?

I don't know anymore...

Adio's premiership track

yeah ive heard it too, he has got some real skills really.... genious. dont think his done one for this season tho. anyone heard sunny days - i love that track

White Denim

I've never heard them so can't comment on their musical prowess, but they're Fearne Cotton's fave new band, donchaknow.

really when did she say this?

id love to know how you know about fearne cottons fave new band but hey i kinda agree, theve got a there names on ppls tongues right now.

i just found their myspace

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=31144037

game on!

Born Ruffians

seems to be getting an inordinate amount of radio attention compared to actual attention. Florence & The Machine is just about coming to fruition with an actual record people can buy after a good nine months' buzz.

On the subject, something that's proving a fun game for all the family at the moment is watching Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong's release dates, because evidently they're proving so popular and deserving their records are being moved around the release schedules to give other artists a chance. Their album's been put back about three months.

Born Ruffians are on an Orange pay-as-you-go advert now

I quite liked them at ATP Pitchfork though.

Oh?

Which track? I like their album immensely.

AH!

Fly away little hummingbiiiiiiiiiirdaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

<3

Just catching the tail end

of Florence & The Machine now, whoever did PR for them has done a decent job.

On the downside, the band is solid, but she sounds like Kate Nash. And that gives me The Fear.

White Lies were just on Jools Holland...

anyone catch them? They were pretty good, if not a bit miserable.

To be honest, I wasn't paying them too much attention. I was still over-awed by Jimmy Cliff doing "Many Rivers to Cross", the great big dirty legend.

White lies..

...Black Kids trying to be Interpol no?

^ Racist

...

...i should have seen that one coming... do'h.

Santogold would have something...

to say about this comment...

white lies

where so bad on jules I hadnt heard them before but hell they sucked bad

They are rubbosh

Do we really need another band over-obsessed with Joy Division? I mean, dressing entirely in Black, all their instruments are black, what a tiring angle. That Jools Holland performance was so uninspiring...

But yeah, Jimmy Cliff was incredible.

Gossamer Albatross

Held by Hands

LOL

7"

coming out late summer/early autumn. getting the final mixes back for the 3 songs we did with hugo this weekend.
2'll be on the 7".
you'd better buy it!

Definitely will be doing.

Is that Jonquil Hugo?

What're the tracks?

yep, that's jonqul hugo.

tracks we did are

1. the ground will take us down
2. Queen of the Sea
3. Boy with the butchers knife

:)

hmm

i actually liked Dear Eskiimo's EP

do you have it?

might be worth £££

hmmm

i do yes, 2 infact.

oh

i just checked the ebay prices and they're pretty rubbish. NEVER MIND

Have you seen their video?

It's on YouTube somewhere, and it amptly proves that sailing caps and dungarees > ballerina outfit.

Who still cares about this kind of bands

who tends to disappear even faster than before ?

EVERYONE THINKS IM PARONOID

bless Apartment - weren't they the same?

PROLEFACT - a band i was in once supported them. 6 out of 10

that was such a good song!

loved it.

as it happens

David Apartment is playing a solo show in LDN tonight.

for more amazing facts:

i'm here all week.

POST WAR YEARS

apartment were good, its all about post war years for me, those boys have boootiful voices!

amazing fact:

i listened to one of their songs yesterday.
or was the it the day before?
i dunno. i'll have to go and check on last.fm.

post war years

are great!

Florence and The Machine

must be the buzziest fo'sure. Post War Years too as above.
A few others...

A Classic Education

I seem to have missed

all the A Classic Education press buzz. As far as I've seen it's, well, just me. (And they're playing Indietracks!)

me too

and i thought it was just me! that's at least 3 of us now!

yeah

it's weird..3 of us already!

4

i'm going to be bumming them in our 'fanzine'.

flashguns

and they're only nippers!

bit late on this one

but I thought White Lies sounded more like a miserable Cure than interpol.

apparently

"Hotly tipped Uk 7 piece DUKE SNR" or so they say anyway.

i haven't listened yet though.

what happend to Foals?

you dont hear about them anymore

I really haven't heard about them in quite some time

maybe I'm lucky.... or I am alone to often with the radio and TV off hehe

Do Glasgvegas still count?

Here is an incidental link to footage of them performing "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry"...

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AQRKY016xkM&feature=related

For some reason, the big meaty riff from the single version is missing. Maybe they only wrote that part after this performance. So there you go.

Cutting Pink With Knives

about to sign to a major.

-

really?! I saw them in Cambridge and bought an album and I'm still trying to find a tune.

Good band, don't get me wrong, but how can they be major label?

cutting pink with knives

just split up, no?
