jeff coupling

as the next sidekick, plsthx

ps

he wrote the best episodes of the revival. Happy days.

yay!

whenever i see mention of this "moffat" character

it makes me think about brilliant Doctor Who would be if Aidan Moffat wrote it.

Perhaps a little dour though.

ANd maybe a bit too sexual for the Saturday tea-time slot.

Fnarr

You could actually imagine Aidan Moffat discussing getting some Saturday tea-time slot

i remember

one time when me and some friends were playing football with some "lads" at the park and we didnt know thier names so I made up names for them, and one of them looked like stephen moffat and he thought i called him fat. So he spat at my shoes.
Fun things you can do with moffat.

so there will be another series?

tere goes my theory that rose would come back and the doctor would run off and marry her and it would all be happily ever after!!

More

"The appointment makes Moffat Doctor Who's showrunner - the key creative force behind the programme - on the fifth series, which will be broadcast on BBC1 in 2010."

Full story's here:

i remember reading that Tennant wanted a year off

from doing a full series, so they're doing a couple of specials instead.

actually the best news all day

it will get all scary!

^Pretty much this

The episodes he's directed have generally been really good - Blink, Empty Child, etc.. Really looking forward to the next series now!

Moffet is also writing

the scripts for the 3 upcoming Tintin films, directed by Stephen Spielberg and Peter Jackson.

good news

Dr.Who has the potential to put some really odd original innovative stuff onto mainstream telly and Davies seems happy to have the show retreading old ground and sticking to a safe formula.

This may be the best TV-news of the year.

The one guy who makes Dr Who look brilliant has the job of doing it full-time. Obviously he was the logical choice but I'm delighted they chose him nonetheless.
