Your childhood teddy

Most people have a childhood teddy or some other one that they've acquired over the years. One's that don't get thrown into the dark depths of a cardboard box and tossed into the attic.

What are yours and why are they special to you?

I have two: Fozzy Bear, who stayed at my great Grandad's house which has retained the smell of the wardrobe in which it lived and reminds me alot of my childhood. My other one is a reeeeeeally soft Baloo toy bought for me when i went to Disneyland.

goofy :)

but i used to call him gooky for some reason

someone tore Fozzy's head off once.

I lamped them for it and got sent home from school.

:D

(it was 'bring your teddy to school day',

i didn't carry him around with me

^ racist

:D

I had a Zippy soft toy

I tried to feed him real food, and then some kind of fungus grew in his mouth. Then he disappeared :(

:D

Henry Benry

.

Shamu

This little killer whale that I've had since I was 4. He was named after a real killer whale that I saw at Sea World.

Huh?

Anyway I have 4 whales now, a whole family. Daddy (Shile), Mummy (Shaki), Shamu and Shelly (Male & Female children) ;)

I have two.

Little Ted and Little Bear. I had such an imagination. In fact, years later, I was given a third one and called him Little Ted II. Hmmm.

Little Bear's head is detached from his body and Little Ted's in such a bad way I think I should encase him in a glass box.

Both of them are exactly the same age as me, being bought the day I was born. How wicked.

I recently saw them (like last week)

and they are both disgusting. HOWEVER they shall never be washed.

An owl

called Apple.

Apple the owl.

I gave most of my soft toys to charity

I kept a few for sentimental reasons but they are all still at my parents house in bin bags.

I had a few favs:

sharky (the shark)
rabbit (the rabbit)
clowny (the clown)
lamby (the lamb)

I was so imaginative.

^ that made me smile.

My friend's nephew had a horse called 'Horse'. It was more crumbly than Pompeii and made me laugh.

I have a Batik monkey from Malaysia

called Monkeyon.
I always had loads of monkeys, rather than bears for some reason.

Rupert and Other-One-Teddy.

The first was a basically a teddy dressed up as Rupert which I carried everywhere. I think he was replaced twice due to falling apart. Other-One-Teddy wore a blue waistcoat and a bowtie. He was never a cool as Rupert.

I did have a blankie

which is now neatly folded in my underwear draw.

I have a stuffed hippopotamus named Hippo.

I got him the day I was born. I used to call him Bubbo because I couldn't say Hippo. He looks like road kill now, but I still love him.

A blue bear

called 'blue bear' and an owl called 'Owly Growly'. I still have them both much to my wife's disgust.

Bangsamamma

Bear-Mother in Icelandic

out of 10 how feral does this reply sound?

I had Piglet

He has been sat up on a shelf for about ten years poor thing.

big bird

and a panda that could turn inside out to become a globe. Educational and interactive.

i had a sonic

the hedgehog soft toy and its fucking ace...still have it actually

i had gobo from fraggle rock

then the dog disembowelled him. :(

Puffy

I've had him since I was born, and can probably count all my nights away from him on one hand. I take him most places, he's twenty billion times more important to me than any non-living being ever. And he practically is one anyway.

He's getting sick though, really bad. I keep trying to get him stitched up, but then it gets bad elsewhere. My sister's is just a rag now. I don't know what I could do if that ever happened to Puffy. But it won't. I just have to keep stitching. And possibly patching.

He's the one on the left:

MINE IS AT JAMSINES

i remembered the other evening, I WANT IT BACK, DAMNIT.

he is called nicholas, i tried to steal him when i was in my pushchair, my mum realised i had taken him just as after we left the shop, she took us back and tried to give it back but i wouldn't give it up so she bought him, he's been my bestest friend ever since.

i told my step-dad he was ill once and he thought it would be funny to say ''lets take him to the doctors', throw him on the floor and stamp on him. i was HYSTERICAL. seriously misjudged, poor sean.

That's quite scary

The exat same thing happened with me stealing a bear called George from Fenwicks. Like -exactly- the same. Apart from the best friend bit. But I sill love him.

odd!

Diddy. A teddy bear that in hindsight looked too human

He is now in the loft back home. I think I'll get him down when I go back. And cry with delight.

a

little st bernards dog called Fluffy.

he was never fluffy.

Eddie the teddy

who I had from when I was born and who was dragged around with me resulting is his now very scratched nose.

a rather noble looking, honey coloured bear

that i named Sir Theodore Fuzzington V ("Ted" to his pals - i.e. me).

we had many an adventure together, because he'd made a name for himself in the teddy world as a great explorer or uncharted territories. although, he had retired by the time he came to live with me, so i had to act as the youthful ward to his elderly form. he used to grumble that "this old fluff isn't what it once was".

Fergus

He was one of those sleeping rabbits that you got in hammocks that wore a nappy.

20 years on, the nappy and the hammock are now gone.

It was all about Bumblelion

He came with me on my first day at school. I think I refused to go without him.

Still have him somewhere...

Erm..

Bourbon Cream - my brown teddy bear and Archibald Cuthbert Custard Head - my custard coloured aardvark.

I never had a bear

I hada hand puppet mole though called moldy warp. Why? I have no idea...

my b/f kept saying i looked like a

mole in the mornings because my eyes are always almost closed, so i gave it to him...i still get to see it often, but at its new home. It's like visitation rights.

I had

a Jersey cow called 'Jersen'

Rocky Raccoon & Lamb

both quite self explanatory.

mine was a dog

one special one called Owly

he was an owl. He was great.

Then there were two teddies shared with my sister. Humphrey whose filling kept coming out of his foot and Duncan whose nose kept falling off.

I have a scottish bear

called Scruffy.

He has a tartan bow, has gone from being quite cuddly to a bit matted and floppy, it's hard to find his eyes and he still shares my bed.

He's basically pretty awesome except that he gets quite jealous when the boy stays and he ends up getting accidentally knocked out of bed or hidden under a pillow.

Podgy Panda

My ex-girlfriend still has custody of him.

have her killed and save Podgy Panda

(by the by, Podgy Panda is my favourite name yet of someone's childhood teddy)

To be fair, it was a panda,

it wasn't very imaginative.

I got given a bear who I named Max for my 9th birthday

He's still in my room at home. He has trainers on [well, they look like trainers] and a denim jacket.

Possibly the coolest bear ever? Hehe.

Fred Ted.

He's all squashed and shapeless and has a squint now but at one time he was the most refined, noble, well-presented teddy in the land.

My big sis bought it for me when I was born and she hunted high and low to find one that was made in England. Fred Ted has a union jack embroidered in silver on him bum and is, by all accounts, a very British bear.

Harry

He was blue and big and my best friend. I'm not sure what happened to him, but I used to take such good care of him. I miss Harry :(

i have a big, blue bunny toy.

He lived in the attic, like Anne Frank.

Awww, not to bump myself up but i've LOVED this thread. Kids are cute.

my teddy

caught fire in front of my very eyes. i try not to talk about it. cuts me deep still

my dog and my best friend's dog

tore one of mine (Blueberry, he was called) in half right in front of me. i heard them playing tug and turned around just in time to see them pull him apart. a sad day indeed.

my childhood himp was more important to me

he was called charlie....I had a yogi bear
