Mae Shi and Johnny Foriegner gig that I had booked from a few months back? I'll be letting a friend down seen as the tickets are in my name and require confirmation at the door.
I don't know what to do =(((

no brainer
the final will be shit anyway.
^this
^this
remember the FA Cup final they had with each other that made everyone except lawro hate football
lawro
has hated football for thousands of years though.
I didn't really want to be reminded of that
:'(
Gig.
The Champions League final will be a bit meh anyway.
Johnny Foreigner!!!
never let you friends down
gig
This is pretty much
The only thing stopping me from just watching the game at the pub.
what if they're friends
with Gerald Pique?
seriously.
you have to ask?
^this
anything with the word "final" in football usually means gash
Incorrect, there have been some good finals..
..although this won't be one of thrm.
none have lived up to my expectations except world cup final 1998
FA Cup 2006?
Champions League 2005?
Uefa Cup 2001?
FA Cup 1990?
FA Cup 2003/06?
Champions League 1999?
Europe - The Final Countdown
?
DAMN IT
you did say in football. and I am a twat. Sorry.
mae shi are worth it
but then I got board of football quite some time ago.
subbuteo?
dinner first
then your talkin.
depends how vested you feel
about either side....
If you're largely a neutral, definitely go see Mae Shi / JF because they're both amazing live.
But if you're a fan of Utd or Chelski, it's pretty much their biggest game...
Also you coulod try tape it / sky+ it and not find out the score. Difficult though.
I'm missing Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Mt. Eerie and The Most Serene Republic for it.
I'm a united fan.
And I think I'd probably die if they won and I missed the game.
Mind you, the gig will be in manchester town and if there is a win, it could be a fun night afterwards. I JUST CAN'T DECIDE.
forget what I said before, watch the game
if you're a Utd fan, it'd be absurd not to
do you have tickets to the match?
cos if a a fan go to that... but if you aint off to the acctual match I would go to the gig but I love The Mae Shi alot
woah no.
it's in moscow, i was going to go to the pub or something.
ah right
thats how much i know about football hehe.
"I'm missing Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Mt. Eerie and The Most Serene Republic for it.
I hope they settle it within 4 days.
I was thrilled
to see that it was the night before Animal Collective for myself.
...
Thank Christ for Secret Option C: Anything Else?
furious masturbation
http://furiousmasturbation.com/
Go to the gig, leave early and fuck off to the pub.
I've never heard of Mae Shi.
ADVANCE ON HER SLOWLY MEN
What did I do???? :O
I received a similar response when I asked who the fuck Johnny Foreigner were
I know now, but still not a clue who the Mae Shi are.
Are they anything like the Ting Tings? Their names are similar.
dont make it worse on ya self
heck
there you go
http://www.myspace.com/themaeshi
some people hehe ;)
I don't know.
I only have a vague idea of who the Ting Tings are, and I think I've confused them with some other band called Crystal Castles or something. And I only know who Johnny Foreigner are, in that I've actually heard the name, because prof kitsch wets himself about them ALL. THE. TIME.
Even if I knew who any of these people were, I've got the feeling I'd still vote for the pub. I love Manchester Utd. [And hate Chelsea.]
they are in the running for the title of
most fun band in all of the land....
Definitely not the musical equivalent of the Champions' League then?
I think they are more the musical equvilent
of......ummmm....... a real good time.
Watching Chelsea concede 3 goals?
To Leicester?
maybe I dunno
I'm well out of my league with football I havent watched it since about 1999
We haven't been on the telly in almost that long
As the gig is in manchester might they not be showing it
at the gig with the sound off? I saw Arsenal get to the champions league final in north London this way in amongst a load of indie kids who didn't give a fuck.
Watch the match, you knob
It's not like the alternative is interviewing Spencer Krug or something. Phone up the venue beforehand and explain the situation with the tickets.
Go to the gig, and watch as much as you can between bands.
That's what I plan on doing, but I'm not a fan of either team, so in a way it's easier.
Oh, and
Mt Eerie are/is playing at Kro Bar the same night. This is really making me wonder what to do...
As a United fan...
I would turn down pretty much any gig ever, to see this match. Unless like they resurrected Elliott Smith or Sam Cooke or whoever for one night.
Sit and watch a bunch of mono-syllabic multi-millionaires kick a ball
around on the telly whilst they count down to the final whistle so they can go and spitroast a 17 year old prostitute in a hotel room............
or go and see a great gig?!
Hmmm........
Watch the football.
This final doesn't happen every day but you'll get plenty of chances to see these upcoming bands.
^ this
Gig.
Surely if your a Man Utd fan you want to see them play.
Nothing would get in the way of me seeing the final.
Perhaps your a bigger fan than I am.
I'm in the same situation...
and as much as i think Johnny Foreigner are the best band in the Britain by a country mile, if you're a chap there's no real reason for missing the European Cup Final. It happens once a year, and Johnny Foreigner play Manchester every two months.
^ this
or don't bother calling yourself a fan ever again.
I'm going to see Feist instead
and trying to avoid the score.
Mae Shi and Jo Fo
They were aces in Cambs
If you had tickets for Moscow i'd call it a no-brainer
But as you don't, its a no-brainer.
Just record the football and watch it when you get in
i'm seeing animal collective and atlas sound tomorrow
when the match is on. luckily for me the brudenell has two rooms...one of which has the footie on!
the plan is first half, watch atlas sound, end of second half then animal collective :D
You don't have the dilemma any more
JoFo just posted a bulletin announcing tomorrow is cancelled.
Good call, i reckon.
whut
Is this bullshit?
there's nothing on their myspace.
definitely cancelled.
go through your bulletins, it was a quite recent one.
oh
I dont have them added
=[ =[ =[
They were most of the reason I wanted to go.
are we talking the whole gig...
or just JoFo?
It seems pretty dumb really.
I'm assuming it's Pineapple Folk that've pulled it, which would mean the whole gig's off, but i'd check the Myspaces. It doesn't make that much sense. United are playing a game 2000 miles away, who exactly's going to cause trouble in Manchester? There're no outdoor big screens, only one secure indoor non-beer selling event at the MEN Arena. What could possibly happen? If United win most of the City will be ecstatic, and most of them would head to the ground or Albert Square as normally happens. If they lose then they'll probably stay out drinking and be a bit miffed, yeah, but it won't be a great deal more dangerous than any big city is any night of the week. Pineapple Folk made a massive rickett putting the gig on cup final night. Fair enough a lot of people who might go might not be interested in the game, or not local etc, but they'd certainly have more of a crowd if it was on another night, maybe they've just realised this and dropped it? It certainly makes little sense to do so otherwise.
is this actually why it's been cancelled?
if so then it's pretty dumb. and VERY annoying.
Yes. Potential football-related trouble.
I'm not sure who to, mind. I can't imagine anyone getting harassed during the day, or scallies going to the venue, or the band having trouble on their way, so it must be concerns about wether fans could get home safe, and if so then there probably shouldn't be a gig in town again.
=/
how much damage do they think a small group of skinny indie kids can do?
with all that hairspray, potentially LOTS.
=D
Oh hai
I am the above mentioned friend.
DRAMA!
tell him to watch the match
go on
well i might not need to make a decision
depending on how this unfolds
Oh yes I have just seen
The gig is cancelled! There is a God, and he loves Man Utd.
4reelz?
replace those last three words with
..is Richard Dunne.
bump
for clarification.
Just recieved a message from Ivan Campo
that the promoter has cancelled it.
there should be a
'confirming' in there
was this bumped just so
the social page reads
'champions league final or...'
'having sex with a 4 year old'
cos that's a tough call...
rowan?
After seeing Mae Shi in Preston last night...
...definitely the gig.
Absolutely incredible.
Good times!
see above please
YOURE JUST MAKING IT WORSE
='[
The Mae Shi are touring quite a lot at the moment
I'm sure you'll get a chance to see them before too long.
Yeah
I reckon I'm going to go to A Day at the Races, so that should be fun.
You'll get to see those bands again...
this match is the biggest British club game, possibly ever.
Those bands will play again.
its also a match that he can see twice a year in the premiership
those bands might split up?theres always going to be man utd anc chelsea
not in the final
true but you get what i mean
bands split up all the time.football clubs do not
And a big hello to Halifax Town and Gretna
it's more likely for a band
to play in the same town again than for a football club to get to the European final
It's irrelevant
The gig was cancelled.
They're playing again in about 9 weeks.
And may even before that, there're so many promotors it wouldn't surprise me. I think they've played Manchester 3 or 4 times already this year, too, so it's not as if you'll have to wait long. They gig hard, fair play to them.
