Have familoy visiting - where should I take them? (london-centric)

I have family from India visiting this week. Have to play host. Where to take them? I don't really know what their interests are..

They're fairly conservative but not boring. So galleries are probably in, as are museums. Pubs and bars aren't, unless they are exceptionally atmospheric, beautiful or have some sort of major historical significance.

Popping into the Butterfly thing at the Natural History Museum or whatever is cool, but not exploring the British Museum all day long...

I know this thread has been done a million times before, but please recommend me stuff to do!

Thanks

Ooh go see

that giant squid in the Darwin exhibition while you're at the Natural History Museum.

thanks

anyone else got a helpful suggestion please!

not sure if that squid is still there

wasn't it the colossal squid they've been chopping up in japan?

Not a dig

but don't you spend your entire life going to arts, museums and such? If you don't know then who does? Eh?

yes but more shoreditchy / twattish stuff

i need to take them to mainstream shizzle!

and not just galleries! what about other touristy tings??

WWhy don't you get the best damn PA in London

to arrange your itinerary?

is familoy like family?

but in a brummy accent.

^ha ha

that got a lol from me.

me too

I now have an image of Jasper Carrot phrasing this on repeat. "Familoyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloyfamiloy"

two laughs :D

i'm ecstatic!

Go to Ilford.

You'll get mugged and sold.

Ah Ilford

I remember being taken to the terrible shopping center because my mother didn't like Oxford Street. Horrible plants and shops but fancy lifts.

OI OI!

FAMILOYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Soho

buy a 1/4 of coke and show 'em a real good time!

Take them for

for a historical walk. Temple/Fleet St area is quite good in that it's quite a small area and loads of historical stuff around there. Do your homework on the Temple/Alsatia/St Brides and end up in the Chesire Cheese.

^ good idea

I always say this too

But they'll love the London Eye, followed by a trip down the river Thames, with an expert telling you amusing stories about all the ancient buildings you're passing.
