it will be a lot better than the great escape but not as good as waiting for gabrielle to show tits.

cheers

so far

I've only seen Alphabeat. :-)

Okkervil River were fantastic!

also enjoyed elle s'appelle even though I couldn't see a bloody thing and the bit of sunset rubdown I saw.

I am going down

in the next hour.

Think I'll be at the Fat Cat show tonight, and maybe Slow Club/Mae Shi.

My Day 1....

Spent most of the day in the Prince Albert and then the Fishbowl, getting people together and organising. Most of my mates went off to Concorde 2 to see the Vampire Weekend bill but I went off with a few others to the Water Margin, where I saw Elle S'Appelle, who were pretty good. Then on the pretence of seeing The Futureheads, I ended up at Fanfarlo at Digital. I was really impressed despite standing behind a big pillar. Spoke to one of them after (Justin I think... nice man). Then tried to get to Ocean Rooms for The Whip but it was pretty busy, bumped into a friend who took me to King Blues at the Freebutt, small attendance as it's a kind of out of the way venue but a lively crowd and good stuff. Then ended up meeting random mates and walking about town for a bit, then went to Ocean Rooms for free club night with Matt and mates from home.

Tonight it's provisionally looking like the whole of the Crystal Castles bill at Digital, then running up away from town to see The Melodica, The Melody and Me at Duke of York's then back into town to dance to Greco Roman Soundsystem at Komedia.

Can't wait!

was awesome :)

bon iver + no age + Okkervil river= a good night of gigging!

todays looking good too, can't wait to see saul williams...

y'day:

Me My Head, Subliminal Girls, some 'hardcore' band I forget the name of, Public Service Announcers, The Boat People, Broken Records, Matt And Kim, (a few seconds of) 4 Or 5 Magicians, Team Waterpolo, Lionheart Brothers, The Hold Steady, Blah Blah Blah.

I was there at

Sunset Rubdown/Okkervil River. The former just edged it for me - incredibly good.

I can second the fact he got the towel. There was a tall guy at the front who got Spencer's towel. Assume that was you?

Yeap t'was me

I needed a towell okay :(

No need for ;(

I wouldn't be embarrassed. It was Spencer Krug's!

And you appeared to be standing with a ridiculously cute girl too. So bonus points;)

She hates me now

she idolises Spencer Krug n hates the fact that me and fi seemed to be getting all the attention... but thats mainly cause we are big mouths :)

she'll get over it.

I have no idea who you are, but kinda recognised your friends, anyway.. Ruby Suns tonight!!

YES!

Im going, just telling someone over MSN bout it! Such a small venue as welL! CANT WAIT!!

all matts lady friends

are cute, its quite insulting!

They do read these boards ya'know

they are gonna avoid u like the plauge now :P

haha

nevermind!!

least they're not gonna avoid me like the plague.

:)

Yesterday was a good day

I only managed to see one band on Thursday, which was the Young Knives who were much better than expected. Yesterday started off with SoKo at Audio, who was extremely funny and heartwarming. Went over to the No Pain In Pop stage at Revenge, which seemed to be cursed- Gentle Friendly's kick drum pedal broke, Telepathe's laptop mysteriously died, and Rolo Tomassi's synth lost two keys. Gentle Friendly were interesting, but I'm not sure if I like them or not. Telepathe nearly sent me to sleep, but Rolo Tomassi were fucking incredible. I thought I was going to cry, how can one band be so tight?! Absolutely astonishing, my highlight of the festival so far. The Mae Shi at Horatios were ridiculously messy, stupid and fun. Their set was ruined at the end by 3 girls getting onstage and wooping, shouting 'give it up for The Mae Shi!' It was rather embarrassing. Ended the night with Alphabeat who were great fun, a self confessed pop band who are a a perfect example for all budding pop bands. Not sure what's happening today though, should I bother seeing Crystal Castles?

I thought as much

I'm not overly fussed but I thought they might b worth checking out. I'll be at Concorde 2 for SoKo, Ebony Bones and The Subways, other than that I have no idea who to see!

It's a done deal

See you at the Dodgems!

Dodgems :S

eh? whatcha chattin bout willis

We got to the Barfly at quarter to 11 last nigth

and only had to que for about 45 mins. The sound was shit for some reason though

I wish i could remember Okkervil River

Did i look like i enjoyed them?

Were u THAT fucked?

In fact you spent most of the time talking to Terri and someone else, i was the only one in our Group dancing like the rest of the crowd! MORE ENTHUSIASM NEXT TIME PLEASE!

Sadly, yes

That was enthusiasm! Toying with the water margin or barfly this arvo. Need a fry up first though.

^ pretty much this

People are being dissapointingly low in enthusiasm in my camp :( No one is ready till later! RUBBBBISH!

Mine are doing open house/cup final

I'm going to head down in about an hour if you are around...

Sounds cool, which one though?

Barfly? If thats a bit rubbish then maybe move on?

Makes sense to me

Will text you when i'm on my way down

Bon Iver + Yeasayer

Have been the highlights for me. Have to go back to London later but might catch Bon Iver again at 8pm just before I leave. He was actually the best thing I've seen for many months, so euphoric.

Sunset Rubdown were pretty good too. It seems the festival has been slightly better run this year.

^This

Okkervil River and The Mae Shi were pretty good but Bon Iver totally stole the entire weekend but to be honest it was let down by late runnings and very short band sets (e.g. Matt & Kim)

What a great end!

Today was awesome! Ruby Suns were fucking awe inspiring despite being in the shittest venue ever! woooo! Good weekend! x
