Jon Spencer Blues Explosion

I only have the album Orange, which is fantastic imo, as well as a remix album from that era, plus the track 2 Kinsa Love from a Rough Trade comp. Where to go next? They've had quite a few albums that get varying reviews. I like it dirty, crunchy, sweaty, raw but with a groove.
Any opinions? Ta.

Just keep on going...

Now I Got Worry
Acme
then back in time to Extra Width...

Oh, and both Heavy Trash LPs are up there too...

^

good suggestions.

Pussy Galore

: )

^ ^ ^

I only have a 12" of thiers

with an amazing DFA remix on it. I can do a freakin grate mix with that tune and an acid rework of an electro tune by Josh wink for about 15mins non stop it works so well.

Jon Spencer is "TOOOO COOOOOL" too be loved by me

He's forever ripping off black artists and white artists who made THEIR career ripping off black artists (elvis) and he's got a hot wife who lets him swagger around in her band and he gets to make spit albums with legendary blues artists (RL Burnside). Maybe I'm just jealous, but maybe not cause I have a hot wife too. Yeah the guy just rubs me wrong. Pussy Galore was cool but even in that band he built a rep by ripping off persona from poor junkies- ugh, yeah, the guy is a phony- go but some James Brown and call it a day.

*buy some james brown

Spencer is a gifted songwriter, I'll give him that, but yuck, he turns me off.

I did love

the Boss Hog album though, it was sweet!

so is martinez

.

thought that album was a bit hit a miss

the track 'Sam' was brill though.

EXTRA WIDTH !!!

is amazing !!! Pretty much everything by them is pretty good.

**James Brown

yeah yeah got plenty of JB's already. JSBX was the question. Listening to Orange turns me on, not off, so I want more. Was pondering Extra Width, Now I Got Worry and that new Jukebox one as well. None of which were in HMV at lunchtime so I had to spend my £15 voucher on the remastered edition of Otis Reddings 'Otis Blue' instead. Classic album!
Pussy Galore = cool to like but actually rather unlistenable in reality
Boss Hog = got Cold Hands vinyl and only really keep it because the cover is damn hot.
