I'm going to start a new game tonight where I keep alive the Imperial tradition of Britain in India after my game as Llangefni Town got corrupted as I was sitting proudly 3rd in the Welsh Premier Division.

It's nice to have money without having to cheat

chivas usa

5 trophies in 3 years

I'm not sure whether the MLS counts...

Does it count?

Apparently it does. Good work soldier.

mls is actually really hard

only 18 senior players per squad, wage caps, cant offer other clubs money- loads of crazy shit.

Serious point;

You're right. It is a real test. As a wheeler and dealer I tend to steer clear of the MLS though, I find it too frustrating.

i'm playing FM2007 because that's the one i own

(y'know, only buy one every two years). i've just taken Lorient to the Waffa Cup (not the trophy, merely the competition)

I was going to buy it every 2 years

as well but was bewitched by everything I'd read about FM2008... I won't fall into that trap this time around.

Also, I assume you mean the French club Lorient rather than L.Orient?

yeah, the French club

FC Lorient Bretagne Sud

why am i managing Lorient? pretty kit.

cool badge as well

unfortunately, FM2007 didn't have official French club badges

Leigh RMI

14th in the conference after a third season promotion from conference north. Michael Twiss' glorious return lead to the highest goal tally in the division

I need a new laptop

purely for FM

To anyone in the Championship

Two words: Billy Sharp

EVERTON

I can't be bothered with too much of a challenge at the moment

To those of you with lower league/small country teams

does having literally no money not frustrate you massively?

I've really tried to start games like this but I end up giving up because my squad just stagnates :( Any tips?

I always rely on my scouts

as a LLM, but in previous games I've always found searching the list of transfers handy for finding guys who have been released and then taking them on trial...

In all I love a good spend as much as anyone, but at the moment I really want to develop players to generate cash.

I always found loans and free transfers

have been the way to go in LLM. Rarely spend at all (usually have a transfer budget of 0 anyway). Always worth ensuring you've got as good a coach/ass man(!) as possible as well.

Ass man?

BA Billy Gunn?

.

oxford united. IT'S A CHALLENGE

I haven't bought a Football Manager since the split with Championship Manager

partly because I was wary about how good it would be and also because I knew it would take over my life.

So is it as good as it was?

Better

in my opinion and also a hundred times better than the continuing CM series.

:D

The Irish League was always shit

However, the League of Ireland - different story. I can remember taking Shelbourne to the Champion's League quarter-finals in the old CM. Good times.

Not played much

of FM2008 - not had the time for it. Probably won't get 2009 unless it's got the Isthmian league playable. (Slight rumblings in this direction if the research is up to scratch, but I'm not holding my breath).

Only got 2007

I'm with Aldershot in league 1 in one game and having just won Serie A for the third year running with Fiorentina i'm leaving for the conference South with Wimbledon. Is it worth getting 08?

To be honest

you might as well wait until 09 comes out. There's not a huge deal of difference between the two.

Brechin City

After I got fired from Wolves on my first ever season for getting relegated.

Somehow I've managed to take this tiny club out of the SD2 and into the SPL, and in the process scraped a win in the UEFA Cup, with my team's average age being around 21. Utter madness. Now I've built up a decent reputation I'm hoping Wolves will let me back in.

I cheated for a while to get more money, but realised that even if you do get that most players you'll want turn up their noses at smaller countries and leagues, so just went back to playing legit.

last time i played

2nd with banfield in argentina

also, fc ural yekaterinberg in the russian second division...got winston parks and he was shitting goals until he left to rot in the reserves of cska moscow

Brighton & Hove Albion

Third season, third in the Championship with 10 games to go. Bring on the playoffs!

Best signing; Tamir Cohen on a free from Bolton. Absolute hero.
