just end half way through a bar. for some reason this really bothers me!
otherwise, I like it. though the sound at the end of the last track is pretty scary.

talking abou the new portishead album
listened to it about three times now and I am not sure I like it. I feel a little underwhelmed in fact. I guess the hype raised my expectations to unrealistic levels. Is it just me?
at first i thought it was
a fault with track 1 especially.
imo i think its an excellent record, quite sinister and haunting,
i don't think i had particularly high expectations
based on their 10 year hiatus. i think i need to listen to it a bit more to get used to it.
i was hoping that was just on the rip
but yeah it's really annoying
i like the new album,
but i still think S/T is alot stronger.
Not so keen on the album opener or closer though, they always get skipped. Nylon Smile is where it's ALL at
that is one of the best
my favourite portishead album is actually their live NYC album. the version of roads had made me cry on several occasions.
nyc...
is ace! i like the cut-out on track one of third. i guess it's abruptness is intended. i think it works. the record's obviously got some "spike" to it, like an intentional move away from the earlier, more ambient sound (s/t especially). i don't find it so noticeable on track nine.
* silence and small
for the benefit of thewarn
Thanks!
I'm going to give it a while to grow on me.
Also with Portishead you can't listen to it on your ipod, it has to be at night on the stereo.
agree with this,
its a turntable LP for me defo.
The Rip
is feckin spot on. Dark and broody, I love the synths in it.
<3 the synths
at the end of Machine Gun too....
yes!
its soo beautiful. Amazing record... i might even actually order a shiny decent copy right now!
