Nine Inch Nails man Trent Reznor has uploaded another new album to his website for you to download “one hundred per cent free.”

The Slip is ten tracks long and is the third longplayer Reznor has released in the last six months, closely tailing money-spinning March effort Ghosts I-IV. This one though, is gratis – a fond and multi-formatted thank you.

"As a thank you to our fans for your continued support, we are giving away the new Nine Inch Nails album 100 per cent free, exclusively via nin.com,” Reznor said in an accompanying post.

"The music is available in a variety of formats including high-quality MP3, FLAC or M4A lossless at CD quality and even higher-than-CD quality 24/96 WAVE. Your link will include all options - all free. All downloads include a PDF with artwork and credits.

"For those of you interested in physical products, fear not. We plan to make a version of this release available on CD and vinyl in July. Details coming soon."

Here’s an ever-helpful tracklisting for you to peruse at your leisure:

‘Letting You’
‘Discipline’
‘Echoplex’
‘Head Down’

are these albums any good?

how come it used to take him 5 years and now it takes him 5 weeks?

Ghosts...

Was a series of sketches really, most of them are a bit boring, but the ambient are quite nice when they pop up on shuffle.

The new album is alright, quite upbeat on the first half, downtempo on second.

i think the chief reason

is that not he's not a mad junkie anymore.

The Slip

is a good album I'm enjoying it.

^ This

It is quite good. I can see the direction they are going. I suppose, being on your own and being able to just release your own stuff when ever you want might be quite liberating.

This album

is a really good summary of what Reznor has been up to for the past few years. It draws comparions from his last few albums, as parts remind you of the fragile, with teeth, year zero, etc.

For anybody out of step with NIN's current output, give this a go, it's free, so what do you have to lose?

P.S. They have 1 part of a 36 track instrumental album up for free download too if you go to the website for those who haven't heard about that either - www.nin.com

Yeah, genuinely free.......

and way better than In Rainbows.

FUCK YOU RADIOHEAD.

REALLY LIKING

the new album, especially head down!!!

It is what NIN has always been about

In many respects this is the vehicle that NIN has always been. He made a mistake and got tied into a nasty contract like so many young artists do. Now older and still head strong he is pushing what he thinks is possible with not just his own music but the involvement of the music listening community.

I was supprised to receive the single on saturday as a freebie through facebook, quite bizarre indeed and even more stunned by an album yesterday, which is really impressive.

Like somebody said before me, there is no 5 year gaps between releases because a) he is relatively clean in body and mind. b) he is doing it for himself rather than knowing every penny is going to someone else.

A talented guy and good luck to him.

I've already praised it on the boards

Please review The Slip DiS.

good call

I wouldnt mind seeing a DiS reveiw of this.

WHAT IF

I don't have broadband, will he send me a copy of the album for free?

How does he do it?

How does he keep on coming up with catchy disco beats and angsty lyrics all the time?! The man is so prolific, and a GENIOUSE!

ha HA!

Sir Snarky for the win indeed. Well played, sir.

On first listen through...

... I heard lots of recycled sounds from his older material. Nothing really grabbed me, although the last three tracks are a marked improvement over the rest of it.

I concur

(Hi Dale, btw!). They're always funny beasts IN albums...like novels, in the sense that the best bits and the Deux Ex Machina is always the last third (apart from The Fragile, which was structured differently). Perhaps (if such a thing would ever happen) Trent should never do a greatest hits, but instead a greatest finales
