Roadie Reports

Roadies: the people behind the scenes at the gig. Who are they? Probably friends of the band? Are there professional Roadies anymore. Have you ever heard a guitar or drumtech wail (maybe there is a roadie law that says you can't show of in front of the audience? Which were your favorite roadies? What were Boris' roadies like? Best dressed roadies (they are notoriously bad dressers).

My reports:

My favorite roadies were Einsturzende Nuebauten's.
I can't remember any details but they were cool, intense looking and very efficiant.

Sam Fogarino's drumtech looks like a middle aged mafia hitman.

Liars' Aaron Hemphill self roadies and I love watching him set up.

Wolfmother had kickass effeciant roadies which tore all the old duct tape off the stage and cig buts and small peices of crap and threw them into the audience- thank you very much.

Tool always has very mookish looking roadies.

I've never seen a female roadie.

Type O Negative's roadies are given orders to annoy and taunt the audience before the show- especially Schlitzy (what a dick that guy is). He'll come out and ridicule the audience for being stupid enough to show up and tell the audience that the show has been cancelled or that Peter Steele is stuck in traffic and can't make it or some shit like that. Then they have (on stage) big, studio audience prompter signs that flash prompts like "applause" "boo" "you suck", it is tons of mind fucking fun.

Far too many small fry bands in the UK have Roadies

Why?! So lazy.

I'd have an aneurysm if someone started setting my stuff up for me.

Yeah, Liars set up their own gear

I think that's cool. The small frys as you say probably have friends that just help em out so they (the band) can stay back stage with the jitters and then make a proper entrance.

I agree

Though if you were on a big enough label, it'd be fun to wrangle your friend(s) a job 'on the road.'

I'm taking my friends

label gets to pick tour manager, I pick the roadies- entourage.

Portishead's

roadies were very efficient when I saw them in Edinburgh recently, they got all of A Hawk and a Hacksaw's equipment off in minutes, and then got Portishead started very quickly, I was impressed

Now that I think about it, it may have been A Hawk and a Hacksaw's roadies taking stuff off, but whoever it was, they were very fast!
