I did like

Glasto 03. This year's line up is totally pathetic in comparison.

probably this

2006 • Collection Eté
Franz Ferdinand | Cat Power | Katerine | Mogwaï | Calexico | Belle & Sebastian | Island | Liars | The Spinto Band | Why? | Howling Bells | You Say Party! We Say Die! | Radio 4 | Chloé | Band of Horses | The Pipettes | TV on the Radio | Grizzly bear | Friends of Dean Martinez | Stuart A. Staples | Isobel Campbell | El Perro Del Mar | Port-Royal | Ulrich Schnauss | Dillinger Girl & Baby "Face" Nelson | Hauschka | Dimitri Play | Magnetic Friends

I was at that too!

+ Ulrich Schnauss, Sol Seppy, Micah P Hinson...

Did you go swimming in the sea? That soviet bloc diving board was a highlight of my weekend.

yep!

I'm kind of thinking about it this year. Did you go last year? Did they relax about letting you go in and out of the music area? open question guyz

That was totally awesome line-up

You guys going this year? Notwist baby yeah!

And no,

I still think they have the stupid rule not allowing re-entry into the arena...

Connect 07

Bat For Lashes / CSS / Hot Chip / Mogwai / Regina Spektor / Beastie Boys / Primal Scream / Bjork /Aereogramme / Modest Mouse / Paul Hartnoll / Black Dog / The Twilight Sad / M.I.A. / The Go! Team / Jarvis / The Hold Steady

Seconded

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
And add Frightened Rabbit, The Jesus And Mary Chain, We Are The Physics, Fire Engines, Super Furry Animals and Idlewild to that list too.

Thirded

and add LCD Soundsystem and Seasick Steve who produced Modest Mouse's first two albums...

Primal Scream were pants though...

Connect was fucking excellent last year...

pity the line up this year sucks.

but they weren't too bad at the time, and obviously not all that known either.

alfie was another surprising inclusion.

Ganger were fantastic!

I was totally hooked on festivals in prison camps after this!

Plone are the howler in there

Worst thing Warp ever released....

United Sounds of ATP Weekend 2, 2006

The Shins, Dinosaur Jr, Sleater-Kinney, Clinic, Electrelane, Boredoms, Joanna Newsom, Decemberists, Teenage Fanclub, Broken Social Scence, Mission of Burma, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Lightning Bolt playing about four times.

Definitely

Thurston Moore's ATP. It was so abstract. It felt surreal grabbing at 1pm whilst listening to full-on white noise. The Butlins staff said to me "how can you listen to this?!"

I remember seeing QOTSA that year

and they absolutely awesome

i think i missed them,

but i can't remember why, maybe they clashed with muse or something?

No they were on in the R1 tent

mid afternoonish, possibly clashing with A!

they were down to play the carling

did they get moved?

Must have done I guess

Unless my memory is really starting to go.

They did

they got moved up to the Radio 1 tent because they were starting to get big

That was my first festival

I remember seeing limpbizkit and loving it. Oh. Not the best line up ever but it was good fun none the less. You also missed off Robots in Disguise who played then. Were even worse then than they are now.

I went to that

I was 17 and 5 of my favourite bands at the time were playing. Royal Trux, Queens of the Stone Age, Trail of Dead, At the Drive In and Elliott Smith. Good times.

I was there

my first festival. I missed Slipknot to see Elliot Smith, leaving all my friends.

either

Connect last year or Mars Volta ATP

Reading 92

just the sunday, unlike the uncouth yobbish children these days I wasn't allowed the whole weekend:

melvins, pavement, beastie boys (in Check Your Head era), bjorn again, L7, mudhoney, teenage fanclub, nick cave (who I'd never heard and was blown away by!) and, Everett True's Dancing Poodles Brigade

Roskilde last year maybe

• 120 Days
• Arcade Fire (CAN)
• Arctic Monkeys (UK))
• Beirut (US)
• Björk (ISL)
• Boris (JAP)
• The Brian Jonestown Massacre
• Camera Obscura (SCO)
• Datarock (N)
• Diplo (US)
• Dizzee Rascal (UK)
• Roky Erickson (US)
• Grizzly Bear (US)
• A Hawk and a Hacksaw (US)
• LCD Soundsystem (US)
• The Lionheart Brothers (N)

• Ungdomskulen (N)
• The Whitest Boy Alive (N/D)

+ shitloads more good stuff. Blew glasto out of the water.

Glasto 92

Blur, Television, The Fall, Curve, Primal Scream, PJ Harvey, Carter USM, James, The Breeders, Billy Bragg, Van Morrison, Kitchens of Distinction, Spiritualized, The Shamen, The Orb, 808 State, RDF..

Being 17 and the fact that apart from Van the Man and Kitchens of Distinction these were most of my favourite bands at the time. I didn't know what to do with myself all weekend it was so good..

Happy days.

I'm rubbish so i've only been to a couple of festivals...

But ATP vs the Fans last year. Fantastic line-up!

So true...

so so true.

Glastonbury 1994

Ride, Rage Against the Machine, Saint Etienne, Nick Cave, The Levellers, Paul Weller, World Party, Spin Doctors, Elvis Costello,Tindersticks, Peter Gabriel and others, Beastie Boys, Boo Radleys, Manic Street Preachers (uttering their infamous call for a bypass thru the site), The Pretenders, Echobelly, Oasis, Chumbawamba, Pulp, Radiohead, Blur, Spiritualized, Transglobal Underground, Senser, Björk, Orbital, Madder Rose, The Lemonheads, Johnny Cash, Tool, Madder Rose

That said, Reading 1995 was AMAZING too:

Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Hole (Courtney read Kurt's suicide note out on stage, flashed us her flange and slagged off Billy Corgan's sexual technique), Teenage Fanclub, Beck, dEUS, Juliana Hatfield, China Drum, Stereolab, Guided By Voices, Bjork, The Boo Radleys, Tricky, Throwing Muses, Neil Young, Soundgarden, Pavement, Mudhoney, Buffalo Tom, Babes in Toyland, White Zombie, Blind Melon, NOFX (I think they pulled out though), Pennywise, Foo Fighters, Drugstore, My Life Story, Carter USM, Monster Magnet

Suffice to say that both events pissed all over the Reading and Glastonbury of 2008.

Did you see Foo Fighters?

That was the year that there was a crush wasn't it?

Couldn't get anywhere near it!

Utterly ludicrous decision to put them on in the tent.

Another vote

for Thurston's NBC.

Dedbeat 3 -

Brand Nubian; El P; Boom Bip & Dose One; Buck 65; Fingathing; Luke Vibert; Mike Paradinas; Stingray; Edan; Blackalicious; Edan; Andrew Weatherall; Venetian Snares; Hellfish; Aesop Rock; Mike Ladd; Madlib; Ceephax; The Bug

Either Reading 1998 or 1999

but that's mainly because festivals are much more fun when you're younger, plus I swear there are so many more twats around now.

I'm actually pretty excited about Bestival this year musically....

I haven't made it to very many festivals sadly

But the Portishead ATP (my first) was by far my favourite. The atmosphere and the whole vibe was amazing.

wow

i went to the first three festivals of this thread. admittedly the first post was mine, but still.
gillespie says glasto 03 was primal scream's best performance, they were amazing that night. the acts closing sunday night provided the biggest clash ever: tricky (new bands stage), doves (other), someone from buena vista (jazz world) and squarepusher (glade).
if i could go back in time and go to one of these other ones it would be the 2000 atp, would love to have seen godspeed and plaid.
