nme new noise tour

i was in topman today and saw the staff wearing a top advertising nme's new noise tour.

now forgetting the bands that are performing i find it quite upsetting for such a money-making, commercial, and predictable magazine like the nme to name one of their tours using the title of the Refused song New Noise.

The nme are everything i believe Refused stood against and to see Refused's classic anthem and ethos used in this way fills me with quite a lot of disgust and even more hatred towars the nme.

Am i wrong?

yes

its unlikely to have anything to do with Refused, and im not sure that a lot of the NMEs readership, and maybe even writers, will be aware of the song.

To be honest, I've never heard of it either.

S'a catchy title for a tour though, innit.

im aware,

that most readers and people attending will not have heard of Refused or the song which makes me even more angry. I would hope Refused did have nothing to do with it though.

Hmmm

Its unlikely Refused own the rights to the words 'New' and 'Noise'.

Meh

Some people haven't heard of every song ever. Life goes on.

of course they dont

refused have nothing to do with anything nowadays

haha well said

but dont rub it in eh? long live refused! fuck off NME

i played it when

we djed hannah's folk night you dolt. you know the really noisey song that got me told off?

All songs should be called something like that.

'Your Mum Won't Like This One!'
'The One That Made The Neighbours Angry'
'It's Got A Bit In The Middle Where He Screams'.

calm.

it's just an alliteration. just because i enjoy kicking pigeons it doesn't mean that i enjoy the music of [spunge].

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

[spunge]lover.

mister

jon hillcocks show is called new noise, as it's the nme perhaps they haven't heard of refused and are copying him instead.

I really

doubt it's anything to do with Refused. I doubt Refused were the first to use the name either.

I'm waiting for the NME INDIE RAVE TOUR 2008.

my gran

once said the words

"oh that's a new noise" once when she heard a new noise.

so she wins

fight thesystem guys

just one more obscure punk band reference and, well, we have only to kick in the door and the whole rotting edifice will come tumbling down upon itself.

Smash it!

Fuck off

You silly punkier-than-thou rightious bellend.

shut up

you pretentious twat, what a ridiculous thread. new noise is just a generic term. idiot.

bah

here's me thinking the next big thing was gonna be people name-checking merzbow and harsh noise artists and stuff

i don't really know

i'm going to crystal castles on firday though i think
