got to be some copyright
issues somewhere
that
sounds like 4/5 Foals songs cut up and glued into a "new" song. Unbelievable.
That's a disgrace!
This made me laugh
bless there cotton socks they just wana be a big pop band they are playing some one buy them an ice cream then maybe take there instruments away.
maybe
it's "sampling"?
hehe ^ This
or maybe they have never herd Foals as they don't even list them in their Influences.
that is stunning
i am quite literally speechless after hearing this. 'rip off' doesn't scratch the surface.
wow
sounds exactly like them. did they think noone would notice they're just ripping foals off
I was expecting something derivative,
but not a complete facsimile. Is this a joke band?
^^^
Unbelievable resemblance.
that's embarrassingly similar
also bits of the last song 'maps demo' sound EXACTLY like Dartz
...
whats the name of the band... i can't get on myspazz at work innit
Venice Ahoy
If these guys get big
I am getting Yannis to sure their asses.
sue*
it sound so much like them
quite funny really
They are
Just one big Foals rip off but then again We Are The Physics seem to be doing ok ripping off Polysics so they might have some potential.
WATP sounded absolutely nothing like polysics at all in any way
when i saw them the other week
HA
hahaha!
Yeah
cos Foals aren't ripping off Bloc Party and The Rapture are they...(sighs)
theres a difference
this is a carbon copy basically. i was going to make the point that foals arent exactly totally original, but theres a clear difference between being heavily influenced and taking elements of their sound and actually completely copying everything about a band.
In other words
Foals rip other people off well, as opposed to Venice Ahoy who clearly don't.
(see above)
Dartz
or you draw a distinction between rip off
and influenced by
or
riff off
riff raff
Someone add them as a friend
and then accuse them of being rip offs.
The last song on their player
is quite good. (Maps Demo)
But yeah, that first song. ouch.
i prefer
this to foals.
To the Batmobile Robin
there's been a robbery
hum
only heard Maps Demo, which sounds a lot more like Maps&Atlases than Foals.
lets more pretend anything about Foals is original anyway
that last song does, indeed, sound a lot like m&a
which is always a good thing. a coincidence that its called "maps"? i think not.
anyway, listen to the first song there, and any excuses like "foals arent original in the first place" become completely redundant - this is proper larcenry.
actually, considering how good the other tracks are, i'm tempted to think that the foals rip off is a deliberate joke
maps demo..
hot club de paris?
kuntz.
maps & atlases rip-off > foals rip-off
They list
Maps & Atlases in their influences.
Agree...
Couldn't put my finger on it but you're right that song sounds exactly like 'Every place has a house' by Maps&Atlases.
i totally disagree!!
think about all styles music for a second!! every metal band sounds the same! ever so called indie band sounds the same!! if anything there just a head of the game in what's happening. and monmouth is completly different but still in the same sound as there other songs!! maybe rather then slagging them of as a complete foals rip! you should listen to some talking heads and fire engines! and see where maybe some more influnce's could of come from?
1st post, ey
1st post or not
every metal band does not sound the same.
Newsflash:
Foals' shit is hella ripped off too.
Oh shit
I actually saw that band at the weekend, haha.
I think I actually
prefer them to Foals...
But, aye, copied.
there technique
is completly differnt to foals aswell!
they seem to do tapping guitars as well foals are all picking to get more rythems etc....
are you in this band?
because if you are, then although there may be some subtle differences in 'how' you make the sound... tapping vs picking... the actual sounds you are making are very very similar. i hope you have a hit and we have another wire/elastica thing on the go...
i have listened to talking heads, and fire engines... just because people disagree doesn't mean they are ignorant.
no im not in the band
just stumbled across them on myspace
He wasn't asking you
silly.
you forgot to mention
that you definitely aren't in/know the band.
not in the band
just have nothing to do!
and you signed up
just to make those 3 comments?
shyeahright.
if you've got nothing to do...
you should ask this band if you can join...
there is no shame, apart from the flagrant plagarism, your band are actually pretty good ;)
its the one thats at the top of
newsest and i just singed up
problem?
yes
you're shit.
I prefer this to foals
I didn;t get anyone was saying at the beginning before the dsico style drums came in...
apart from the drums most dischord bands from 1999 sounded like this...so foals don't have any 'copyright' on it.
The only thing that makes the mlike foals is the drums combination with the guitars.
ok it sounds like them. But foals don't have any great claims to this style..
also true....
i feel a little uncomfortable... saying this is a rip off (which it is) seems to suggest foals are a little bit more orginal than they are.
this is a blatant, deliberate rip off of a derivative but less blatant band... or something.
what
i was trying to say
i see more of make-believe type of thing with this band
with the finger tapping...
let's wait for a video if they have one..
if they start dancing like they're ripped on emetics with guitars glued to their chins...I'd love to shove don cab's entire discopgraphy up their arses...
on 12" too
the video on there page
shows it
there's a bit of high slung action in the youtube video
on the myspace page
haha true!!!
but they dont pretend there feat are glued to the ground
no no no
you should listen to THIS...
www.myspace.com/thisistheadvance
They're all about 16 and used to be a 'Rock/Pop' band. Y'know, typical school boy sounding.
Then foals came along and well...
this is good
I don't see the probs..if 16 year olds are doing this, its a good start...apart from lack fo lyrics..ala foals ;D
I don;'t see foals mentioned aywhere in influences for either band...but minus the bear are mentioned in both in different places
fela kutie really couldn't have imagiend the effect he has had on english teenage hipsters
*imagined
HHHHAAAAAAHHHAAA...
that is genius, it is so slow, like drone-foals... at least they are honest and have foals as a top friend though...
It's very unoriginal,
but I like what they do. It pushes the right buttons, and sometimes that's all you need.
^
i wonder what carrot ram and the ex tsfu's are doing now
I remember when he was posting little riffs on myspace looking to form a band doing this kind of thing...then fucking foals show up
they sound
pretty good
I actually really like Fireworks.
lol
i've been waiting for someone to notice this.
although i find their sound totally infectious and i constantly have fireworks stuck in my head.
I'd go to a doctor about that...
that did
come out a bit wrong didn't it...
i blame venice ahoy!
haha
haha!
whilst that song does sound ridiculously like Foals
I don't think it's plagiarism, just a rip-off. I acutually think they sound pretty good. More than anything, stuff like his reveals that Foals aren't really that original (still a good band though).
i think this is some super elaborate jag
because the first song does sound exactly like foals and is quite laughable, but i'm on the second song and its actually very agreeable. nothing like foals, just fun dischord/minus the bear/kinsella type hijinks, and the third song is even better. although it might be a bit crazy to assume a band went to the trouble of writing and recording a rip off song to construct a jag, but it is mighty strange!
It's more Dartz than Foals
is what I think.
the 1st one is a foals rip
but its not that bad. i like the next ones as well
derivative but good
They're not original but they are quite good! I really like the Maps and Atlas's song.
added them on myspace for answers!!
added them on myspace with question: bit of foals sampling?
answer:
"sampling is taking a sound and using it, say taking the sound of a drum then putting it on to midi for keyboard
so no we havnt because we play the song our self
but thanks for asking! :)
how ya doing bro?"
they have
a point there!
'they'
this sounds a bit like
a cross between Red Sox Pugie, The French Open and Cassius.
Blatant rip-offery
that is actually totally hilarious
like actually hilarious. I'm in stitches.
But I'm also crying. Crying like mad, guys. Serious.
haha
i know right!
christ
they've had over 1300 plays today.
Impressive, I wonder how many of them are from this thread checking them out to see if they sound like Foals? If so, also shows how many people read this board and don't post.
The Foals aren't exactly original either...
Apart from the obvious African Jazz/Funk influence, which is been tried by others before anyway (Phoenix "If It I Ever Feel Better", and The Dismemberment Plan had similar material)- they have that distinct eighties new wave funk thing going - A Certain Ratio, Talking Heads, Minutemen, Firehose etc.
THE FOALS!!11
MilburnArcticMonkeysgate. Repeat!
Wouldn't it be something if Venice Ahoy eventually leapfrogged Foals in terms of popularity?
I'd LOL
loud and long. Maybe.
You'd better do.
I'd rather not laugh alone, thanks.
i bet foals pre-emptively strike
and invite them out on tour.
megalolz
you can almost see the video too. the band members standing in a white room holding out their hands and falling.
they can have that treatment for free.
odd man out:

haha
Also happens to be the one
that doesn't look like a complete prick trying to look like a gawky indie moron.
put some hankies on their heads
