All you need is Alopecia

nothing else comes close.

*plunder

such a tool

although i still think their older stuff is better.

nothing beats oaklandazulasylum...and elephant eyelash...and the sanddollars ep..

i've got grass-strains on my knees for you.

yeah, i'm not so into the new why? record; although all the intense reverence here is making me think i should spin it some more. like, i got really obsess'd with both "the hollows" and "fatalist palmistry", but most of the rest of the record did nothing for me.

oh, but, in answer to the question, i'd go something like:
1. Rings "Black Habit"
2. Gazheart LP
3. El Perro Del Mar "From The Valley To The Stars"
4. Lykke Li "Youth Novels"
5. Camille "Music Hole"
6. Yeasayer "All Hour Cymbals"
7. Vampire Weekend "Vampire Weekend"
8. Los Campesinos! "Hold On Now, Youngster..."
9. Little Claw "Spit And Squalor Swallow The Snow"
10. Beach House "Devotion"

but, i have been listening to the Fleet Foxes ep/lp muchly this week. and the new Mount Eerie. and Blackblack.

oh, and, if/when The Remarkable Thing About Swans record comes out, it'll prob'bly be the greatest record ever.

yeasayer

was last year. fo sho

The Dodos

Ruby Suns

I'm putting subtle on there at number one for me... yeah its not actually out yet... but GOLLY.

Aside, yeah, Why? is at number one

Wish I could afford enough albums to have a top ten!

Anyway:

In no particular order I've enjoyed: Indelicates' "American Demo"
Albino's "Resurrection Bodies"
Nick Cave's "Dig, Lazarus", Dig"
REM's "Accelerate".

I've quite enjoyed the Los Campesinos! one.

I've been bored by the British Power Album.

There's probably others I've heard too but can't think what they are.

looks very much like you're on your own there

give us a cheery wave from planet Mars Volta.....not seen anyone else mention this one thus far!

I'm out there too

Hello! At least we still have an OZONE LAYER

I haven't bought

any albums this year yet. But this thread is going to prove useful. I'm looking forward to getting Alopecia and Accelerate at the very least next week.

Man Man

Rabbit Habits.

Looking forward to Kong's album as well, no idea when that's due though.

I only have 4 on your list

but for me its between 2 albums not mentioned
Beach House - Devotion
The Dodos - Visiter

but to be fair its a long race and let's see who can stay the distance

In no order.......

Atlas Sound - Let the blind lead those who can see but cannot feel

Why? - Alopecia

I Was A Cub Scout - I want you to know there is always hope

Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim

Fuck Buttons - Street Horrrsing

Sebastien Tellier - Sexuality

The Mae-Shi - HLLLYH

Forward, Russia! - Life processes

Youthmovies - Good Nature

Maybe Foals..... I can't decide

Mine...

I would say my favourites so far are:
Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight
and
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago.

Alopecia is also GREAT!

^ ^ ^ ^

Everything said here is correct. I would also add Fleet Foxes 'Ragged Wood' and The new Mystery Jets one which I assure you is a grower of the most magnificent kind.

I have Ragged Wood

Only listened a couple of times, but it's good so far! I will be sure to track down Mystery Jets!

On another note, is the Fleet Foxes lp actually called Ragged Wood or is it self titled? Subpop are listing it as S/T

Hmmm

It seems that it is now self-titled... My version says Ragged Wood but I guess they changed it!

I want to hear

ellen Allien - Sool.... is it out yet? i didn't think it was.

Why? - Alopecia

is the best album released this year. not so far as i don't see anything being better than it.

Bit Embarrassing

But I've only really listened to Neon Neon's album this year. Should I be embarresed?

Clark and Crystal Castles also get a pat on the back

how come

you spelled embarrassing right but not embarrassed? weird.

you're right

that is wierd

Ha

Then you spelt weird incorrectly even though it was in the previous post.

Fook me RockStepper

EXACTLY the same as me this year so far. All those 3 albums deserve mega glued into the CD player playage though so it's cool.

On top of this I'd say I enjoyed the Lightspeed album, though it might have a short shelf life.

Definitley enjoyed the Nada Surf album, and Fighting With Wire's album is really good. A better year than last already for me.

Hercules and Love Affair

is probably the best thing I've heard thus far

it is not in any order yet or nuffink

but
turboprops out to

Black Mountain
Portishead
Neon Neon
Sambassadeur
Mae Shi
Hot Chip
Hercules & Love Affair

the spiritualized album

Got a good review in Wire

and they slated the last 2.

The Cave Singers

Invitation Songs

Is also good...

going with the majority...

Alopechia si simply brilliant.

I'm also liking the new Islands album

is*

new Islands

pretty rad!

Alopecia I guess

but Trouble In Dreams by Destroyer is pretty great too. As is the new Subtle from the one listen I've managed to give it.

Best heavy album has to be Cursed III. New Genghis Tron is a bit of a let down.

no order but the first 5 are definitely my favourites so far

As with most other people

I'm trying to shake things up. Admittedly it's just not my kind of thing anyway, but there must be some others around here who don't like it!
