Did you go to Warwick University

If so, and if you graduated at any time in the past 20 years, then there's a good chance that you were part of OFFBEAT, the greatest indie society in the world ever. And if you were, then you've almost certainly spent many a happy night dancing and drinking in the venue that's been known variously as The Graduate Club, The Elephant's Nest, but mostly Zippy's Joint.

From June 2008, Warwick Students' Union will start to be redeveloped (or 'demolished'). One of the things that this will mean is that Zippy's will be no more. Obviously Zippy's has extremely powerful associations for anyone who's ever been part of Offbeat.

I'm currently organising a massive Offbeat reunion on the last-ever night at Zippy's - May 31 2008. This will be for anyone who's been involved in the society since it began. In the fullness of time we'll be looking for DJs - hopefully someone from every era of Offbeat, from 1985 to now!

Please spread the word to anyone who you think may be interested, and direct them to one of the links below. Obviously there are ex-Offbeaters spread out all over the place, so we're going to be relying heavily on word of mouth to make this work.

Facebook event - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=15578415820
Reunion section of the Offbeat forum - http://www.offbeat.org.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

Tickets are available now from the Union's website for £5:

You need to register for an account, but you don't have to be a student to do so.

bump!

Is it bad form to post on your own topic just to bump it back up the forum?

Oh well...

I went in the mid-90s

but have never heard of The Graduate Club, The Elephant's Nest,or Zippy's Joint. It was shit old place anyway - now they chase me round the country for money

Never heard of Zippy's?!

Tattly little club type venue at the top of the Union? Next floor up from Lynams, next door to the radio station? No? Blimey.

No

I didn't.

Just a final bump...

This is next week!
