Does anyone know...

One Million Billionth Of A Millisecond On A Sunday Morning by The Flaming Lips?

Beauty of a song. 9:25 long.

my favourite is

fucked up's 'year of the pig', which is 18 minutes and 38 seconds of epic punk rock perfection.

Bummer

My band has a song that's 18:31. I'm not happy about Fucked Up exceeding this by 7 seconds...

you should try to work in a few more seconds

with feedback at the end, or something. if it fits the song, of course.

Sao Paolo FTW!

Velvet Underground - Murder Mystery
LotP - Space and the Woods (Filty Few Remix)
The Mae Shi megamix thing
Polyphonic Spree - Section 11

Doom over the world!

Nice, I just stumbled across this thread while listening to Reverend Bizarre's Teutonic Witch, which weighs in at an epic 29m05s.

Three Days!!!

by Janes Addiction.
How has this not been mentioned already??

Jakob

Dominion. 29 odd minutes from 45 minutes of recording. Awesome.

also

Her Name is Calla - Condor and River.
EPIC.

Seconded

Condor and River.

Saw them support twilight sad the other night and they were brilliant. Just downloaded the E.Ps as well.

Great song for walking home from work at 5 in the morning.

Frankie Teardrop by Suicide

10 minutes 25, and utterly terrifying to boot. Also The Cedar Room by Doves

Lots of Mogwai mentioned so far

but no-one's gone for 'Mogwai Fear Satan' which is

1) At least 16 minutes long
2) The best track they (or anyone else) have ever recorded.

There.

sau paulo - guillemots

without a fucking doubt

*stop thread*

Genesis - 'Suppers Ready'

Whoever said 'Oh Comely' as an epic track can get fucked.

sao*

sawwry

not including

...post-rock, IDM, drone, ambient classical, or any of the usual stuff, since it's ALL long, and I'd be here for weeks listing the damn things:

Low: Do You Know How to Waltz?

Hope of the States: A Heart Can Stop a Bullet

Fog: Shdws/Scrns

Youthmovies: If You'd Seen a Battlefield

Yes! to the low song

didn't they once play that with Godspeed?

oh yes

I wish I could have seen that.
That said, it's not up to the original's standard.

Trying to Find my Feet

by David Ford is beautiful

Sonic Youth - Trilogy
SFA - Slow Life...just in at 7 minutes
Autechre - Eggshell
Underworld - Pearls Girl
...Any by Mogwai.

EGGSHELL!

Now, it's not as good as their later works, but I love that piece so much.

It pisses all over The Egg.

So to speak.

Pearl Jam

Even Flow (live) - July 9th '03, NY, NY official bootleg.

Phenomenal.

The version of Present Tense on that album is also sick.

Is it just me

that can be put off by the length of an album sometimes?

Sao Paulo is amazing though, yeah.

pitchforkmedia

had at least 4 tracks in their top tracks of 2007 that weighed in over 11minutes.

bro's and the past is a grotesque animal has been said. dan deacon's wham city starts off silent but still manages 10mins+ of greatness.

and then ost and kjex come along and funk it up with milano mongolian (a thrilling mungophony in two parts).

i'll go with the bolero

pink floyd

Smashing Pumpins - Silverfuck
Kraftwerk - Autobahn

Notable exceptions,

Sparklehorse- Cow 7m 12s
Flotation Toy Warning- Donald Pleasance 9m 27s
Pure Reason Revolution- The Bright Ambassadors of Morning 11m 50s

I know,

I do believe it's one of the most perfectly produced pieces of music ever.
The 7 minutes just fly by, and its one of the few songs that I take the time and trouble to set the sound up properly, pour myself a drink and turn the lights off to listen its every detail.
