The initial details of this year's Latitude festival were announced tonight (19 Mar).

The early list of bands scheduled to appear at the event in Henham Park, Suffolk is headed by Franz Ferdinand - as announced earlier, here - Sigur Ros and Interpol.

That weighty triumvirate will top the bill in the Obelisk Arena on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively, while Death Cab for Cutie, M.I.A., The Breeders, Elbow and Amadou and Mariam all appear further down the card.

The Buzzcocks, Eli 'Paperboy' Reed and the True Loves, Barry Adamson and The Heavy all guest in Mark Lamarr's Music and Film Arena, while elsewhere a Penguin Classics Library and a Pimms Bar festooned in the middle of the lake will endeavour to keep fickle sods entertained.

Continuing to cosy up to Auntie, Nicholas Parsons' Just a Minute Radio 4 show will be broadcast live from the site and for some reason Dermot O'Leary will be there, too.

Running from the 17th 'til the 20th of July, weekend tickets for Latitude will cost you £130 plus booking fee from various nefarious agencies.

Is that all we're being told tonight?

I want more names! Well pleased with Interpol.

I was so pleased

I booked right away, and let See Tickets charge me £12 on top of the face value. Cheers!

Now all I need is friends.

death cab for cutie

i haven't seen them live. but possibly would like to x

i'm so glad to be going to bennicassim

but i'm SO GUTTED to be not going to this as well, missing sigur ros, death cab, interpol.... a franz set.

it's swings and roundabouts....

but whoever goes this is GOOD!

this see ticket thing is stupid

they shouldn't be able to get away with charging such high booking fees. £12 just for taking your call- sorry, thats not on. or even just buying on line-

the excuse they give is that they have people on site to deliver service....my answer would be why? and how many? and how much are they earning. Sure the company needs to make a profit- thats why they are a business....but £12 plus£4 postage is daft. Its the same for Roskilde, except its an extra 17.50 plus postage.

When i asked they got shirty saying "you wouldn't buy a coat in a shop and then haggle over the price when you get to the counter." Well, if it had a price on it (as the tickets do) that said £130, if they tried to charge me £12 more I probably would ask them why.

Surely the ticket companies and the festivals should just work out a "cut" from the ticket face value? Latitude stand to make 2,600,000 if they sell out....and i'm sure that once everything pays off they will have a healthy profit.....just factor in 'booking fee' to ticket prices.

Agreed.

I just wish all festivals/promoters would use gottickets.com.

I love Latitude...

...best weekend of the summer last year.
