Leicester-born rocklads Kasabian have revealed the big idea behind their new album.

The follow-up to 2006’s Empire longplayer is untitled thus far, but will, apparently, “open your mind”, a departure from the band’s current concern with blowing venue roofs off.

“[We’re] just cracking on with it now,” Serge Pizzorno told Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding when he phoned-in a call to Kasabian’s guest takeover slot on BBC Radio 1 last night.

“We're sort of in the process.”

Go on.

“I don't really know when it’s going to be released, but as soon as we think it's ready it'll be out. It's psychedelic this one, it's going to open your mind.”

No further details have emerged yet, though Pizzorno did reveal that recent single ‘Fast Fuse’ would be in amongst the album’s tracklisting.

“We've had thousands of people saying we want it on the album, we want it on the album, so it's going to go on,” said the guitarist, which, seeing as though the song was never actually released, must have been a pleasant surprise indeed.

so it'll be

2 or 3 great tunes & a load of filler like the 1st two albums then

Hang on

Kasabian were presenting the show, Fielding rang in, so Serge told him only then what they were doing?

The best news I've heard this year, musically.

I'm vastly obsessed with psychadelic noises right now, and I think Kasabian are utterly amazing.

I'll see you next time you come to Manchester, my favourite lads.

Rock on.

Fast Fuse

was good.

it was

im glad thousands of others think so too

Thirded

Really pleased to hear it'll be on the album.

i don't know which is scarier

the prospect of a new kasabian album or tom cruise on that barmy scientology video

I'm glad Fast Fuse is on the next album,

its an absolute stonker of a tune.

1st album - great

2nd album - shocking

3rd album - ...great?

1st album - great

2nd album - not as great, but still great: a perfect follow-up in that they keep their style yet explore new sorts of sounds.

3rd album - omgomgomg

Whenever I see/hear/read them interviewed

Tom and Serge just seem to me, Tom particularly, to just model themselves entirely on Noel and Liam Gallagher. Which in my books, is never a good thing. They annoy me. They're disgustingly arrogant.

Fairly decent band, not been massively impressed with either album, but neither has been bad. Thoroughly average live too.

Plus they're from Leicester. They are a stain on my home region lol.

Nail meet head

solid.

^^^ they're a stain on the duvet of music!

Kasabian are killing the music industry! <ad lib hyperbole>

Seriously though, I have yet to hear a song that justifies their status yet.

im

from Leicester too, they seem to think they are from Manleicester

So from ripping off XTRMNTR...

...to ripping off Screamadelica.

Oh please.

haha

i can't wait to avoid the new kasabian album, just like i've avoided their whole career thus far.
boooooooooooooooooring.

i HATE these fucks so much

"I hate the way they dress with that faux rock aristocracy conceit, all scarves, choppy, highlighted feather cuts and vintage jackets from designer second-hand shops. I hate their shitty, over-considered facial hair. I hate their professional lad personas, the fact that they?re from Leicester and like football and drinking and swearing, the fact that they veil their song titles in vaguely drug-centric acronyms because, presumably, they think that doing so is cool" - genius

Look you stupid piece of shit, you wudnt no a gud band if it slapped u in d face! Dont get me started on the racist comments about d midlands.

PS Their haircuts are their trademark, so is their music I bet u’ve got a stupid prissy boy cut anyway.

BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

"it'll open your mind this one"

same old shit then?

Awful, awful band.

Pyschedelic?!

The Brian Jonestown Massacre as psychedelic.

I doubt this album will be anything but more of the same. Unless they've been on the psilocybin.

Agreed

on the XTRMNTR ripping off of. A few months before Empire came out either Serge or Tom said in an interview that it was going to sound like Black Sabbarth meets Dr Who soundtrack. WHY DID THIS NEVER HAPPEN?

I like them

despite what many indie snobs say.

Sure, doing press on them is like talking to a bunch of toddlers, but one of the most entertaining British bands this decade. Think the appeal's similar to the Mondays - a really spontaneous bunch of loose cannons whose actual music doesn't quite come out the way they intended it to sound. In short, chancers - but wonderful chancers.

To quote the Manics, "people who wouldn't give them credit were probably pussies picked on by their school PE teacher."

On second thoughts, they were talking about Northern Uproar... :-S
