Guitar Wolf are from Japan, and they play a fantastic mix of jet rock and roll and noisecore that they refer to as jet rock and roll. Their albums are short, yet loud affairs, which once put onto the record deck set about destroying the fuck out of your stereo's speakers. But what are they like live? Well, I found out, and I found out in the best possible way, at CBGB's in New York City, where the band were wrapping up their three date US tour. CBGB's is the perfect dive to fit the Guitar Wolf sound.

Sleazy, cramped, messy, covered in stickers, it's everything a music venue should be, and it's good to see that the owners haven't cashed in on it's legendary status. Playing tracks from all their albums, Guitar Wolf belted out a set that saw Drum Wolf combing his hair whilst playing, Bass Wolf throwing glass bottles around, and Guitar Wolf himself pausing only to scream Jaaadayul incessantly for a good five minutes until the crowd realised he was commanding anyone to fetch him a Jack Daniels. And when one arrived did he drink it? Eventually, after he'd jumped off the speaker stack and landed right into Bass Wolf, then picking a fight with a member of the audience, and then getting another audience devotee to play the guitar for him whilst he threw Elvis poses.

People say that these times are exciting times for the music scene. Starsailor Fuck off, don't make me laugh, get down to the local indie store and buy some proper music with balls, go buy Jet Generation by Guitar Wolf, and if they ever come to the UK, go and see them.
