In the first of a new series on DiS, producers, remixers, dance makers extraordinaire MSTRKRFT have put together a 'net-bound mixtape for us, and for you, to wrap thankful lugs around.
For last year's goodness, lazy jockeys, go here to bag our latest Drownload, MSTRKRFT's much-feted remix of Metric's 'Monster Hospital'.
Back on the ledge of the present, Jesse F. Keeler, formerly of the much-loved Death from Above 1979 and now 50 per cent of the Modular-signed act with Ali P, has outed the following ten tracks of clattering, flouncing, scabrous robot-glam. Bangers to a cut... and a cut... and a cut...
Foamo – ‘Movin’ it Over Here’ (listen)
Mr Miyagi - ‘Pick Your Poison’ (JFK Remix) (listen)
the Proxy - ‘Ready to Rock’ (ALP Remix) (listen)
Timbaland - ‘Miscommunication’ (Bloody Beetroots Remix) (listen)
Jokers of the Scene - ‘Y‘all Know the Name’ (Nacho Lovers remix) (listen)
Adam Kesher - ‘Feel You In My Arms’ (Yuksek remix - JFK re-edit) (listen)
Mark Ronson - ‘Valerie’ (Sinden remix) (listen)
D.I.M. - ‘Is You’ (JFK remix) (listen)
Felix Vs. Diddy - ‘Jack U’ (Ingrosso and Angello remix) (listen)
Herve - ‘Cheap Thrills’ (listen)

“We have been working on so much shit recently - trying to work on our album while remix requests we actually want to do keep coming in. We are doing one for the Juan MacLean’s new single that everyone is going to freak out on, but we’re really trying to focus on our new album right now.
“It’s pretty different and I hope people are ready for it – it’s not going to be out for a while but I think the first single should drop in March or so.
“After December, we’re going to take a break from touring until the first single to work on the record and come back with all the ‘new shit’. Word up.”

If you’ve made it this far, chances are you would dearly love to go to Modular’s end of year party at Turnmills in Farringdon, London this weekend. Ed Banger head honch Busy P, Buraka Som Sistema, the Mighty Boosh and the Horrors will all take up arms behind the decks along with MSTRKRFT for the shindig this Saturday (1 Dec). Want tickets?
Email kevDOTKharasATdrownedinsoundDOTcom with a word. Your favourite word. That is all, you'll be notified very, very soon if you emerge victorious.
As well as those mentioned above, there will be sets from the Count of Monte Cristal and Sinden, Yo Yo DJs and Martelo.
i don't get this
i may be drunk, but where can we download this mixtape???
its netbound
theres a link next to each song, you can listen to the track from the link.
The Herve track is boss. In fact Herve and Sinden on Saturday in Sheffield were both fucking ace.
thats a bit shit
doesn't that sort of miss the point of a mix
that songs are played one after another with no gap
hey
i didn't make it!
^^^
Yeah, but it is hardly news, some band has put togther some URL links to listen to other bands streaming music.
Its like a poor man's itune playlist...
there's just...
...no pleasing some people.
Yes there is...
Post up a actual MSTKRFT mixtape, that you can download...
I'm enjoying the neon neon one that pitchfork put up last week.
copyright?
^ this ^
either Pitchfork are breaking a load of legalities, or they've paid a shit-load of money. OR, by being based in the US, they can do that shit without fear of lawyers ringing them up. Us, on the other hand - we follow UK laws.
^
Yes, I imagine it is because they are in the US, as there are no lawyers there it must make it much easier.
I take it this is why you stopped all the (rather good) podcasts.
Not a question of lawyers,
but of LAW, i.e. the constraints applicable to the free distribution via digital channels of music that requires royalties paid.
post
the mix, then take it down if people get all in a "huff"
I doubt you'll get sued. and if they see how low your revenues are they'll realize how little there is to sue
go for it
then don't click.
no need to broadcast how uninterested you are. it's counter-productive to your argument.
^
but surely I have to voice an opinion to have a side of the agrument? I think your thinking is flawed my friend.
?
bit crap really
Well
I think it's great. It gives you the opportunity to listen to more than one song from each band and have a good think about each of their suggestions. I love MSTRKRFT and I LOVE this.
its cool
to have those tracks as suggestions, but its still not really a mixtape in the sense that most blogs post, like the guns'n'bombs one and DIOYY?
more in the high fidelity sense.
and like you say, that metric rmx is welllll old.
Refer to my post above
There are LAWS against making such 'mixtapes'.
fair enough
i think quite alot of the people making the mixtapes get permission. at least the bigger DJ's do.
not trying to rubbish DiS at all, saves me from boredom most days.
damn
I gotta work hard to get this mixtape up and playing
lots of the posts have expired
