Animal Collective a cert, then? Actually, it could be quite similar to Vs The Fans, which would be great. Their festival they have in Chicago every summer looks amazing.
they should stick to just having two ATP's - one in Spring and one for Christmas. It gets expensive and getting time off work can be hard, plus too much patying is bad for my health! ;-)
It was great when there was just the one a year and the anticipation was so much better having to wait a whole year for the trek to camber, not to mention being able to save up for the next one!
3 atp's is too much! i really want to go to everyone but each one does cost about £500-£600 inc travel and spending..... so its not so much the days off-although 6 days of your holiday is quite a portion of my 19 days!-its just very expensive.
i suppose when i go, i dont wanna scrimp and have to worry if im spending too much etc... and im a sucker for merchandise. and i dont think you can take booze into the arenas.....so?
oh and i like to eat meals during the day ie, breakfast, lunch etc... call me wierd!
otherwise the challets are really near to go back for top ups.tesco s is dead near and loads and loads of food outlets on site.if i wasn't such a sucker for merchandise i could probably get away with spending £30 or less over the weekend
I've never been to an ATP before, but a Pitchfork currated one may interest me. How quickly would the chalets (maybe just a 1 bed one, unless we find extra friends) likely sell out?
As long as they choose the Pitchfork-approved bands that I like, and not the Pitchfork-approved bands that I dislike...
a year is GREAT! Fair do's its lame if you aint got any money...I'm now a mature student so shall be fucked but I'll be damned if I'd wish to deprive all the bastards that do get wages and holiday such joy!
Lets just pray one of those fuckers will take pity on an old ATP veteran and sneak them into their pocket!
And honestly it doesn't have to cost much - once the ticket is paid for (and maybe travel, depends where you're coming from) those are the major expense - stock up on booze and get some budget bread and pasta or something (you ain't gonna be going gourmet lets face it) - food you can make yourself quick- and you'll be fine. If you're pissed when you leave the chalet you'll have no probs.
A hip flask concealed in a boot don't hurt either..well the next morning it does but hey - go for a swim.
Damn. I wonder why they are thundering ahead with the announcements for the Pitchfork one and as yet nothing new for the other one? I thought it might be that they had more faith in the other one being popular (hence it's at the bigger site) but now I'm not so sure.
if they were gonna get pavement or mbv to play you would have thought they would curated it really and not choose explosions. i would have thought its gonna be a bella union thing again
If you like Adamski and trout fishing, im gunna somehow combine the two at a lovely spot in Perthshire. I had a festival in my shower last night, A bottle of gin and Hawkwind Records thats funkier and way more exclusive than ATP
beautiful sounding folk that reminds me of Hope Sandoval
redd kross are classic rock from LA, not everyones cup of tea but a place to bury strangers are heavily influenced by mbv and mary chain and sound pretty decent
when they played the Mudhoney ATP. If there ever were a band that didn't live up visually to the sound they make on record it's them. Maybe they were having a bad day.
Harmonia though. Lucky b'stards. I would be happy to go to this, although I have tickets for the other one.
Speak you the truth?!?!
yar
mikey diver told us last week
Ye Gads!
Animal Collective a cert, then? Actually, it could be quite similar to Vs The Fans, which would be great. Their festival they have in Chicago every summer looks amazing.
dates?
I'm trying to book some flights and I can't miss this.
well if its the same as this year
27th-29th april
or 18th-20th may
awesome
I shall mark out them in my diary to avoid clashes.
the first of the two weeks
will probably be announced halfway through october (if they do the same as last year!)
But first
can they get round to sorting out the 'new acts to be announced' for Christmas?
do you guys reckon
that Pitchfork will curate 2 different festivals then? - One in April and one in May?
I can only afford to go to one ATP each year and want to make sure I go to the 'right' one.
i reckon pitchfork will ony do one weekend
if its true that is(that pitchfork are doing it)
i reckon
they should stick to just having two ATP's - one in Spring and one for Christmas. It gets expensive and getting time off work can be hard, plus too much patying is bad for my health! ;-)
It was great when there was just the one a year and the anticipation was so much better having to wait a whole year for the trek to camber, not to mention being able to save up for the next one!
I still haven't bought my Christmas tickets yet!
er
i meant partying, but i'm sure too much patying is bad for you too.
you're nuts
3 a year is just right
3 ATPs a year
is way too much. I only get 22 days holiday from work a year and a festival normally requires me to use a minimum of 2 of these days.
What I'm saying is that I can only afford (both financially and holiday-ey) to go to 3 festivals a year.
I get quite upset when I read about all the ATPs I can't go to.
:(
i only get 3 days more
a year. depends how much you want to go, if you reeeeally wanted to go that much you wouldn't mind using 6 days of your 22.
pah!
3 atp's is too much! i really want to go to everyone but each one does cost about £500-£600 inc travel and spending..... so its not so much the days off-although 6 days of your holiday is quite a portion of my 19 days!-its just very expensive.
eeeep
does it really cost that much?! i'm going to my first one in december, i hope it doesn't come to £500! (depends on alcohol consumption i guess?)
other than ticket price
i usually spend about £100. just take booze with you...
£100!!!
really?
i suppose when i go, i dont wanna scrimp and have to worry if im spending too much etc... and im a sucker for merchandise. and i dont think you can take booze into the arenas.....so?
oh and i like to eat meals during the day ie, breakfast, lunch etc... call me wierd!
(hipflask)
(food from tesco?)
(snakebite)
(dominos!)
it's really easy to smuggle drink in
otherwise the challets are really near to go back for top ups.tesco s is dead near and loads and loads of food outlets on site.if i wasn't such a sucker for merchandise i could probably get away with spending £30 or less over the weekend
don't
get me wrong, i'd be there if it was once a month, just try and stop me!!
i'm just not sure my health (or wallet) can take it! ;-)
.
I've never been to an ATP before, but a Pitchfork currated one may interest me. How quickly would the chalets (maybe just a 1 bed one, unless we find extra friends) likely sell out?
As long as they choose the Pitchfork-approved bands that I like, and not the Pitchfork-approved bands that I dislike...
i hear
barry hogan has laid that down as a prerequisite for any bands playing.
Sweet
Gotta love the Hulk.
THREE ATP's..
a year is GREAT! Fair do's its lame if you aint got any money...I'm now a mature student so shall be fucked but I'll be damned if I'd wish to deprive all the bastards that do get wages and holiday such joy!
Lets just pray one of those fuckers will take pity on an old ATP veteran and sneak them into their pocket!

bumpy bump
lets use this thread now eh?
for starters:
Sebadoh, ween, man man, dirty projectors, glass candy, pissed jeans, fuck
buttons, apse, caribou, los campesinos and of montreal.
I
really want to see pissed jeans.
of that list i heart
Sebadoh, ween, man man, dirty projectors, pissed jeans, fuck buttons, los campesinos and of montreal.
and the others i've not heard much of. this is good.
iwould sell my mothers soul to go to/have johnny foreigner play at this..
literally...
first bidder...
Jet have confirmed
for the Pitchfork fest.
I can't believe I checked this
LES SAVY FAV!

that wooden shjips album is ace
this is a great round of confirmations. must. sort. chalet.
a huge fat
meh
Yeasayer confirmed too
I say yay
to this one. Not 100% convinced with the line-up thus far, but it's ATP so I have to go.
Yeasayer,
Damn. I wonder why they are thundering ahead with the announcements for the Pitchfork one and as yet nothing new for the other one? I thought it might be that they had more faith in the other one being popular (hence it's at the bigger site) but now I'm not so sure.
Because they have something big up their sleeves for the Minehead one
I reckon.
And I still reckon its My Bloody Valentine. Or Pavement. But probably neither and will be Mogwai and Shellac as usual.
Either way - best festival ever.
hmm
if they were gonna get pavement or mbv to play you would have thought they would curated it really and not choose explosions. i would have thought its gonna be a bella union thing again
^
if so then hopefully dirty three will play
Cocteau Twins
reunion?
aint gonna happen.
Liz Fraser pulled out of the last planned reunion, and now i hear other band members are against it too
Nice additions
Don't I feel silly now?
And I missed Animal Collective in Bristol last month. Brilliant.
Eluvium hardly a surprise though.
8 berths sold out!
5s going fast too apparently!
why
would people want an 8 berth when they coudl have 2 x 4 berths?
i'm going to have push the credit card a bit further in case this sells out. i was way too close to missing out on december.
Im organizing my own festival
If you like Adamski and trout fishing, im gunna somehow combine the two at a lovely spot in Perthshire. I had a festival in my shower last night, A bottle of gin and Hawkwind Records thats funkier and way more exclusive than ATP
hi prole
marissa nadler
a place to bury strangers, redd kross and jens lekman have just been announced. I noticed that Jens Lekman also plays the Explosions one - the whore
well he is fantastic.
Not the additions I was hoping for
mainly because I don't know any of them.
So enlighten me people...
Who good from this bunch?
marissa nadler is great
beautiful sounding folk that reminds me of Hope Sandoval
redd kross are classic rock from LA, not everyones cup of tea but a place to bury strangers are heavily influenced by mbv and mary chain and sound pretty decent
marissa nadler
is great news.
why did i think hope sandoval was playing the december one? I just checked the line up and no sign of her.
jens lekman
is a morrissey-esque swedish singer songwriter who mixes traditional folk songwriting with samples and loops.
marissa nadler is as described above and is fantastic.
i'm not too familiar with the others.
jens lekman!
get in.
am getting really bored
waiting for new comfirmations
although there might not be any
There were
approximately 35 bands playing at the last few Camber ATPs, and 26 have been announced for this one thus far
more are coming
although i guess i shouldnt tell people to be patient when i'm notoriously unpatient
I think there should be a few more.
Previous ATPs at Camber had about 36 bands I think. Maybe Pitchfork are waiting to see who's likely to be flavour of the month in May?
can't wait
in general
eits is looking fiiiine so big hopes for the next couple of bands...
This has got to be the longest wait for confirmations ever
November to January. Dull.
I guess we'll be happy if they pick someone a bit more inspired than Redd Kross though.
more bands
NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!!
After a long wait we can now put you out of your misery.
Here are some fantastic new bands added to the line up!
Chosen by ATP
Even
Black Mountain
Harmonia
Car Sick Cars
Howlin Rain
Born Ruffians
Chosen by PITCHFORK
The Clientele
Ummm, can i be the first to offer a big fat meh?
you FOOL
harmonia! black mountain!
DAMN. and others i need to do more research on!
car sick cars are back too, hurrah! :D
Good news about Black Mountain
I missed them at NBC.
BORN RUFFIANS YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS
even
is that the melbourne band, even?
yes
i think i can 99% for certain say it is
hooray!
[if i'm going]
damn
the addition of the clientele complicates matters somewhat on my decision of which weekend to go to :(
HARMONIA!
Fucking hell!
^
Shit, I have tickets to see them at QEH but I want to go to this too.
Great boost to line-up
aargh
I was just starting to feel ok about the fact I was going to the EITS weekend rather than this one, and then they add all of these.
Black Mountain, Howlin Rain and Harmonia. Damn you, ATP.
My weekend will be spent persuading friends that we need to get a chalet for this.
I was really disappointed with Black Mountain
when they played the Mudhoney ATP. If there ever were a band that didn't live up visually to the sound they make on record it's them. Maybe they were having a bad day.
Harmonia though. Lucky b'stards. I would be happy to go to this, although I have tickets for the other one.
Harmonia!
Now I really really want a ticket...
i thought they were great
at NBC.
OH MY GOD!
:D
hmm
All 5 and 8 berths are now sold....
tickets will go even faster
for this one when the next lot of announcements come. i'd recommend people buy now or be VERY disappointed.
Are you able to give any clues?
Big band? Reformation? Jet back from their hiatus?
nope. no clues.
just thought it would be fair to tell people to get a move on, which should be obvious by now anyway!
radiohead
is the first thought
that comes into most indie fans brains when they wake up in the morning 'radiohead'?
no
it was a joke, and ive been up since 7. i think my first musical thought was "mmm...lichens"
