pretty good, I thought teenage riot sounded terrible which was disapointing but from silver rocket onwards they were really good. Left before the encore, what did they play? Also that support band were terrible, Im sure the sound man was shouting at them by the end, anyone know what that was about?
:D
Tomorrow night I imagine I'll be posting a similar thread...
Yeah.
The support was just so awful. It wasn't even funny.
They played 'Incinerate', 'Reena' and 'Do You Believe In Rapture' in the encore before I had to leave.
8/10.
What time did they play until?
I'm going on Saturday, but might have to make alternate plans - my decision regarding encore/last train home may be different from my girlfriends.
Do Sonic Youth ever have good support acts?
I must have seen them about 12 times and I can only remember 1 occasion (on the Murray Street tour with Liars and the Notwist) where the support was any good. Actually Branca at the RFH blew SY away but I don't count that as a 'proper' SY gig.
Usually it's quite poor improv-type stuff. When I saw Ascension supporting back in the mid 90s one of the guys I was with (I'll decline to call him a friend) got so wound up by the noise that he got on stage (at the Forum) and punched the drummer.
Having said all that I'm going Saturday so I'm looking forward to Corsano. I hope the hecklers keep it buttoned.
Support
I downloaded four tracks from Car Sick Cars myspace page, who are supporting tonight, and they sound pretty good. Derivative, but good. I still won't see them tonight though, as we're having a curry first instead.
I'd also like to know what time they finished last night, as my last train home leaves Euston at 11.40. Cheers.
I've seen Afrirampo support them in the past
so not all bad.
yes they do
i saw pavement support!
Damn you!
.
There is
a recording of a Pavement SY opening slot at the Brixton Academy on the 2CD Slanted and Enchanted. Just saying.
Yeah what time did they finish?
I'm going to Fabric after, though I have a ticket so should be alright.
Anyone?
What time did they finish? Please?
I think
it was shortly after 11pm. They did two encores of stuff from Rather Ripped.
I kind of wish I was going again tonight, was such an amazing gig. So simple: just four people, low lighting, no speaking to the crowd, a basic backdrop with the shadow of a candle on it.... and daydream fucking nation from start to finish. perfect.
come tonight then
obviously!
Roundhouse told me
it should finish by 11.15 which is good because I'm going to Fabric as well, should be a good night!
and then
mote, jams run free, something else and shaking hell. who was the support? i arrived late...
MOTE!
:-0
shaking hell!!! MOTE!
SHAKING HELL!!!!!!
Seriously? I'll be ecstatic if they play it tonight!
Shaking Hell
was AMAZING. I was drunk and shouting out for Death Valley 69 at the end. V embarrassed. They were great, though.
^ true these ^
it was sooo fuckin awesome... without the encores it was just good but with them it was something very special
how fucking cool is Kim Gordon !!??
<-------------------------------------------->
she screwed up
the beginning of the sprawl which annoyed me a little but it was such a good show it didn't really matter.
Teenage Riot was amazing when I saw them in France.
I am PSYCHED about tonight.
No..
PUMPED.
Pretty gutted I have to go home and 30 minutes of unavoidable work before going to the gig though, especially because I'm in Camden.
