Prince to play 21 London concerts

Prince will play his first gig at the O2 arena in London on 1 August
US performer Prince is to play 21 concerts in London this summer, his only European dates of the year.

He is to spend a week at the O2 arena – formerly the Millennium Dome – with tickets priced at £31.21, a reference to his album 3121.

Link.

£31 sounds reasonable, for Prince. Anyone else fancy going to this?

I might do

If he plays all of Dirty Mind

hahaha

So where are the other 14 concerts? Or is he doing 3 a day?

I'd definitely be up for seeing this...

a bit excessive

especially since its the only place he's coming in Europe. In fact, its pretty twattish

I prefered him a few years ago.

When the gigs cost under twenty quid.
Can't remember what album he was promoting though.

ha ha

either this went over everyone's heads or am i reading too much into the 1999 thing...

OMG

I AM THERE
WHO'S GONNA BE IN MY GANG??
we will get FUNKY

i'm not fussed

but apparently he and his band have rehersed "150 songs" for these shows.

that = wowzer.

quote

'He will also play at a number of far smaller venues to make seeing him "affordable for everybody"'

so the O2 gigs are only a few of them. he will do 1 week there, and then announce others at other venues. 21 gigs in 21 days. MOTHER.

so basically

if anyone out there hears anything about the smaller venues he'll be playing, you better fess up ASAP (and pm me and get me in on the guestlist, and i will sex you) k?

nah

the npg music club isn't really doing that anymore.

awesome

at the height of the Kid A madness, me and my mate once tried to predict how many consecutive nights Radiohead could do at the Brixton Academy before it didnt sell out every night - ticket price £20. I said over a year. He said I was mad, but then paused to thought and agreed with me.

Prince in 21 days is gonna go like hotcakes. At a hotcake convention.

I hope he plays some ridiculous places - a full on funk set at the place Candybox is held at would be incredible. Though I'd probably settle for The Luminaire.

he played the Garage in Glasgow a few years ago

which is like 600 people or something

NME.com

claim this is a GREATEST HITS tour

I think I've just cum

I am all over these shows

like a bad rash.

i saw him do purple rain at the brits last year...

...greatest night of my life ... sort of

bloody londoners

ITS NOT FAIR

i need to go to one of these

t'would be ace!

Will try and get a ticket

for the 14th as I should be in the UK around that time. Prince is one of the last people left that I want to see but never have

Can anyone guess on where the secret gigs will be?

I managed to get tickets for the 3rd of August this morning at 02 but would much prefer to see him somewhere smaller. This will, i promise myself, the greatest musical night of my life!

Today there were tickets on sale

for a gig at Koko's tonight. Needless to say they're all gone.....

today there were tickets on sale...

yeah they were like 200 each on eb@y

...

this sounds like a great idea... and pretty fan friendly too (the seats at the O2 are in the round so everyone will be closer to the stage than at, say, Wembley)

right come on then...

who went last night and how was it? I assume it went on til 3am or something and was brilliant but let us know anyway...?

It was indeed ace

He played for about 2 hours - a mix of old, new, borrowed and jams. Lots of covers (Amy Winehouse, Wild Cherry, Gnarls Barkley), got a dozen people out of the audience to sing & dance with him on stage. Satisfied, Girls & Boys, Cream, Kiss, U got the look, Lets go crazy, Nothing compares 2 U, Black sweat are the ones I can remember. He receives it straight from God you know.

They were also

£31.21 on ticketmaster, if you were quick.

still a few on there apparently

for the 11th

od vip ones if you want to pay £250

i've got 2 random seats

from stargreen, no idea where abouts they are but anyway...

he's already up to

12 or 13 shows at the O2 now...

anyone got any idea how this stage setup is going to work?

at least

i'm now going on 9th sept

can't say for sure if it is a good ticket or not, as i also can't work out the stage set up

well i've just bought some more

in quite good (i think) upper tier seats, so shall see which night offers me the best seats and company.

i know the pr manager for the 02

... and apparently the upper tier will be better seats

sweet!

but then

they're paid to say that...

yeah but....

...i'm not a journalist

i'm in lower tier

refreshed about 5 times to get seats that i thought would give a good view - remains to be seen whether i am mistaken

thats what i was originally looking for

but took what i could get in the end. now i'm skint :(

Last nights setlist

pass the peas
satisfied
down by the riverside
Girls and boys
i never loved a man (shelby)
lolita
black sweat
kiss
shhh
musicology
sing a simple song
play that funky music
wonderful world
love is a losin game
gotta broken heart
cream
u got the look
crazy
nothin compares 2 u
Lets go crazy

No offence like, but

I hate you.

:)

^^^ x 100

bad man :p

new dates seem to be up

pounced on the 31st ones :D am going to see Prince, woo hoo!

by the way, am v surprised people who frequent here are as hyped up about this, all considering this is a predominantly leftfield music board, y'know? am sure people on the artrocker boards are deriding this sort of thing...

13 sold out and counting

http://www.stargreen.com/find?Q=prince&SEARCH=Find

I don't think I was a true believer until last night, but wow.

i'm not...

.. he is a genius

a proper genius!

what?

he's amazing.

any news...

on where this mutha funker is playing apart from the o2 yet? I'd quite happily flog my ticket for there and see him somewhere smaller...

yes indeed

i'd like to see him somewhere smaller where i can dance!

Hell yeah

ive always said id pay whatever to see him live but I feel that being seated would be a waste a little bit and I would much prefer to see him someone smaller where you an stand?!
Either way, Im still well looking forward to it!!
