all

of them!

just don't buy any there

musicground is the one with the interesting pedals, and they charge crazy prices. under no circumstances buy any pedal from musicground unless your pockets are lined with gold.

You can also go into Sound Control in the Virgin Megastore basement

The Denmark St. shops are great but they also have a lot of twats working for them

Its because

theyre "better than you"...obviously

bf

apart from Wunjo and Vintage and Rare

Ahh

vintage rare shop are nice people.

Yes, I was always too scared to go in there, cos its so expensive, but I heard that, and went in the other day, spent about four minutes just staring at a 1957 fender duo sonic, cos I've got one from '56 thats been refinished, and I wanted to really take in what colour it should be.

They were cool...had a nice chat with them about those guitars, and they recommended a guy who coudl refinish it.

I

popped in there today, so many gorgous guitars. I was asking about a vintage fender deluxe reverb amp.
There's a gorgeous daphne blue duo sonic in there.

Fender Deluxe Reverb

Thank heavens for ebay.

It's mine, it's mine!

yes

yes okaaaaay timhulio

They're not all that expensive

I mean some are clearly stupid money but others are 'only' about £800ish. You could spend that on a new Ricky or Les Paul or Fender but would it look as FUCKING COOL as the ones in there? Nope.

bf

I'm a vintage guitar nerd

I bet I could find any old guitar for sale in any shop on denmark street, cheaper

Oh Theo, that's so true

I have walked out numerous times from thiose stores.....just dicks who look down on you because it's "Denmark Street"....that said, I recommend Rose Morris....at least the guys in there seem to be freindly, down to earth and normal.

its like

unless you make it clear you will actually buy something of value from them, they are rubbish.

i spent three afternoons trying out guitars and they were bastards. At the end of the third afternoon i said i wanted to a deposit down on a £500 Telecaster and they started actually caring.

yeah

i was thinkin of trying pedals and buying from the states, i cant stand the guys that dont serve you cause your a woman

Rockers

made me wait for ages to buy a pedal, I nearly walked out until someone finally said 'umm this lady's been waiting ages'. Gits.

bf

I went into Music Ground with a female friend, cos she wanted to buy an electric guitar, so we tried out a few, and the guys were just total arseholes. Actually said 'why don't you come back when you've definitely decided what you want' or something...

Avoid them, Andys and the one across the road, that used to be Helter Skelter

a curse tutting of

"so you're on commission..." usually sorts the fucktards out at soundc**trol, me and bandmate jp are often treated like lepers giving handjobs in guitar shops but I find usually talking loud and down to them - then having the gall to haggle the price - is enough...

having said that, rocksound on charing x road is quite friendly despite being tiny...

I always like Rock Stop just round the corner on Charing Cross road.

They seem nice. I once left my debit card there and the guy offered to come down and meet me with it where I was working over on Kingsland road.

Anyway, I've never felt pressured, patronised or fobbed off in there. It's a nice little shop.

aww

also the shop on the other end of denmark street, round the corner towards new oxford street, they're friendly in there and do cheap peripherals (leads etc.), i think both shops realise the majority of people inbetween are fretwanking mongs.

btw, polly jane is my baby daughter's name :)

theres one american guy

who works in a shop on denmark street who constantly bangs on about his pedalboard.

"my board has got awesome patch leads"

yes, okay.

i like wunjo

the best. have yet to be treated like shit in there.

Anywhere

I think really they should all let you have a bash.

Denmark can be pricey for buying (stick to the net) but definately head up to try out some stuff.

Toys'R'Us

vintage and rare

has nice guys working in it. plus its the only place in the uk i could find that sold zvex fuzz factorys.
i tried out the pedals on a FIT jaguar. and i loved it.

Vintage and Rare...

...has the best atmosphere.

I can't afford any of the guitars in there, but I've bought a few pedals from them, they stock the stuff you don't find in other shops like D*A*M and Catalinbread. They're always helpful and friendly.

The guys in Musicground are a bunch of bumhats. I once wanted to try out an EHX Memory Man and Polychorus, to see which appealed most, they guy was really patronising saying "but they're totally different pedals". I FUCKING KNOW THAT!
I just wanted to see which I'd have more fun with.

Reading that back I realise what a pedal saddo I am.
