..but he's got some fair points here. It's all too easy for reviewers to resort to insults when writing a piece on something as un-indie as Mika. Furthermore, these insults are always only going to be one-way traffic - were Mika to get a lairy on, he'd clearly just be shot down as is happening to May in this instance. The moral of this story? 1: Try being a little more professional/objective when reviewing music you're not allowed to like. 2: Brian May should put a stop to the current 'Queen' album sessions.

how DIS seems to have decided Mika to be the hate figure of the moment, and how you're dropping in nasty comments on the site whenever possible. The best way to stop people having interest in or buying an artist's work (which is presumably the aim) is just to stop mentioning them - not to constantly bang on about them for comedy points. That just smacks of arrogance and some kind of weird ulterior motive.

It's sometimes worth remembering that, even if they're making truly awful music, musicians at any level are *real people*, and it can be genuinely hurtful if bileful hate is directed at you over and over again. I often see good, balanced reviews on here, as well as comments suggesting how constructive criticism is good instead of just saying "this is shit because I think it's shit". In this instance, no matter who it is aimed at, it's beginning to feel a bit too much.

There is a lesson to be learned here.

from the words "Take my advice" onwards, Brian's advice is far more applicable to his own 'career'.. I wish that he'd go and decay in a ditch somewhere, rather than embarrasingly and disrespectfully dragging out the Queen cover versions (cos that's what they are now) any time someone at the BBC offers him a chance to get his vest out and "hit the stage one last time".

I completely agree with Brian's comments. This sit needs to show some integrity
within its journalism by not launching hateful personal attacks towards musicians and artists, especially respected ones such as Brian.

There's too much to read to get involved...
But while BM is an incredible guitarist, composer and musician, he obviously believes that humour and music journalism should be mutually exclusive. One imagines that when it came to discussing the Frank Zappa adage 'Does Humour Belong In Music', p'raps Bri and Fred might have been on different sides of the debate?

I think the album rocks personaly, and just pointlessly flaming the guy singing isn't really what music reviews are about. Unless you want to change the website to "Drowned in good looks"?

After reading this and the Mika review, I've come to the conclusion that this website is ridiculous in the least but mostly, juvenile. Making personal attacks that are both stupid & unwitty just seems so trite. Mikas album wasn't even that good, mostly the songs annoyed me but I liked maybe a few that were not released. Here's a tip you fuck-tards, try reviewing the MUSIC next time instead of making pathetic personal remarks. This article with it's defensive, playground prose just smacks of bitterness and idiocy. Because a crappy webzine is Oh So relevant.
