Indie Label Special Part 1: Dance To The Radio Release Third Compilation; bands on it really good.

Leeds talent hegemony Dance To The Radio (that label what Whiskas from Forward Russia co-curates) is to release its third compilation in April.

Entitled Something I Learned Today (five points for the lyrical reference), the 15-track CD will be available in all good shops from April 2nd. You can also get it digitally online and for pre-order from www.recordstore.co.uk.

The CD is the far widest-ranging release in the series so far, with acts from Germany, United States, Sweden and, gracious, Nottingham.

The tracklisting (with a brief overview) is as follows:

1. Grammatics - 'The Shipping Forecast'

Ex-Colour of Fire man with new hardcore-flavoured tuneful offering. Very good indeed.

2. I Was A Cub Scout - 'Teenage Skin'

Notts tyke’s double-A side re-wrapped for loveliness.

3. Read Yellow - 'Pia Zadora'

American emo stalwarts.

4. Sky Larkin – 'Summit'

New Leeds trio who’ve just released their debut single serve up an exclusive track,

5. Foreign Born - 'It Wasn't Said To Ask'

We Are Scientists producer’s own effort, resounds of Echo & The Bunnymen. Good, good.

6. Voltage Union - 'All Who You Know'

Leeds indie rockers, currently part of the DttR roster

7. Disco Drive - 'All About This'

Turin originated disco-punk. As approved by pretty much all the cool kids in Europe.

8. Laura Groves – 'Coast'

Stunning Bradford singer-songwriter of much ethereal beauty.

9. :( - 'Codes'

Post 8-bit screamo kids from Aberdeen offer bleepcore pop goodness.

10. Ghostfleet – 'Shattered'

Spooky, stonerish rock of Yorkshire birth.

11. Sometree - 'One Man Shelter'

German concrete emo fighters finally get a UK airing.

12. AnteAter - 'Final Lekky'

Tom Forward Russia’s electronic solo project. Mint.

13. Lions Of SWE - 'Whatever Happened To Emilio Estevez?'

Alt-rock noisenicks of Scandinavian origins

14. This Et Al - 'Can You Speak European?'

Challengingly good Leeds avant-indie rock. Recently flaying kids on tour with Minus The Bear.

15. Black Wire - 'See The Blood'

Black-clad punk rockers return with new Dark Disco Arcade Fire direction. Frankly brilliant.

There will also be a series of release shows featuring rotating line-ups from the featured bands. More on that soon.

  • I want that

at least for the Grammatics song...

  • The last one

Was mixed really quiet, I always had to turn the volume up especially, did anyone else find that?

    This one looks good though!

  • What were the other two compilations?

I have 'What We All Want'. I didn't know there was another one

    • DTTR: Leeds...

      ...was the first compilation.

Very limited hand written CDR jobby. Never got a wide scale release.

You can occasionally find copies on eBay in excess of 50 quid.

      • Nice to see

Laura Grove getting in on the act. I'm not bitter, despite the fact she never replies to our mails offering to put out her records, lol.

  • stoptryingtotalklikerussellbrandinreviews:(

    • i agree

also, :( rock my tiny mind.

  • apprently this announcement is

"premature" says whiskas (off the frussia forum).

    Naughty DiS!
