Chinchillafest turns five; celebrates with Trencher, Kling Klang and more...

trencher by sanna

Leed's annual Chinchillafest turns five this year, and is to take place from March 2 to March 4 at the city's Brudenell Social Club.

At the moment not too many bands have been announced, but with last year's event featuring the likes of Lords, The Unit Ama, That Fucking tank, Charlottefield and Eiger, expect some flippin' awesomeness.

Full details will become available at the fest's website, here, just as soon as they're, y'know, confirmed. Right now, confirmed bands include Kling Klang, Chronicity, Man Aubergine, A.p.A.T.t. and Trencher (pictured).

Also appearing will be a slew of DJs, and weekend ticket holders will receive a CD, totally free. Say the powers that be: "expect some shit-hot posters appearing soon. Awwww yeah!"

  • OMGZLOL

    i may well be there...

  • Hopefully

    Trencher will actually turn up this time, unlike the other year...

    • oh how i love living 5 minutes from the brude!

      ;)

    • trencher

      we have had a bit of bad luck with our good friends trencher in the past - one year their van broke down and they arrived 10 minutes after the gig had ended. we tried to find a squat or house gig for them to play, but they ended up heading back home ready for work on sunday morning. last year they had a very valid excuse in that liam ended up being booked in for an operation in hospital on the day they were meant to play (coincidentally, his birthday). they'll be here this year though, third time lucky!

  • I saw A.p.A.T.t. live a while ago

    It was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life. They're mental.

  • i think i'll probably

    go to this. YAY!

  • i'll go

    we can drink blue stuff and stuff.

    • *dances*

      i can't wait. chinchilla is the BEST for getting drunk.

  • i want to go to this

    but i probaby won't.

  • Whoop!

    Im off

    ____about chinchillafest:
    This is the fifth annual three day Chinchillafest, and the last in its present format before we start introducing some new ideas to festivals we organise in the future. Our main aim, as usual, is to provide a mighty fine excuse for a weekend of fun fuelled by good music. We work with the following formula;

    "Good Music + Good Venue - Bullshit = Good Times!"
    Good music made by people that make music first and foremost for fun, and couldn't give two hoots about the latest musical fad, being cool, expanding their 'fanbase' or making it big. Good music in a good venue free from advertising, sponsorship, promoters making wads of cash, or any of the bullshit associated with most festivals. The Patented Chinchilla formula guarantees good times!

    This year, the weekend ticket will include a free cd of bands on the Chinchilla-Tone label, as well as a bunch of the bands playing over the weekend.

    There will also be a complimentary limited run cook book, containing the favourite recipes devised and concocted by the Chinchilla collective and friends.

    Over the weekend there will also be DJs from Funder Strikes!, Golden Lab Records and Chinchilla. Friday and saturday will provide the chance to buy a £1 ticket to Gojonnygogogogo's new club night, Imaginary Friends at Subculture in the Merrion Centre, Leeds, for partying till 3am on the saturday night. As usual, there'll be stalls from our favourite UK record labels, just in case you don't want to spend all your cash on lots of boozes.

    ____getting tickets:
    Unless we sell out of weekend tickets in advance, there will be both day and weekend tickets available on the door.
    Weekend Ticket = £15
    Friday = £5
    Saturday = £8
    Sunday = £5

    We are selling tickets in advance, at no extra cost, via our paypal account. We will email you confirmation of the tickets, and you will be able to collect them at the door as you arrive. Please check http://www.chinchillaweb.co.uk to book tickets - we'll have the paypal stuff up soon so you can start getting tickets.

    Weekend tickets will, we hope, also be available from Jumbo Records (The St Johns Centre, Leeds), and Out Of Step Records (The Merrion Centre).

    ____about the benefit:
    The Brudenell Social Club is a vital space in the heart of LS6, with far more to it than the immediately striking Phoenix Night's style decor. It provides space for various sections from the local community to relax together, and provides a welcoming home to a wide variety of locally based entertainment and international acts alike. The Entertainmens Committee have raised over £10,000 for sound proofing, and recently acquired funding of a further £10,000. We are keen to raise extra finances to pay for a few more essentials that the funding does not cover. If you're not already a member of the Brudenell Social Club, please remember to keep a couple of extra quid on you to join. To find out more visit http://www.brudenellsocialclub.co.uk

    • EIGER added to sunday!

      we have been made aware of sad news. EIGER, featuring one of the chinchilla collective, will be splitting up some time in the next few months. their drummist is going to visit the queen in london, and stay there. we therefore had little choice but to squeeze them onto sunday's line up. they are very good. DiS agrees with us wholeheartedly.
