Doing it for the kids: Jarvis, Tindersticks and more for comp

jarvis cocker

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Jarvis Cocker and Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian fame are to contribute to a compilation centering on the theme of childhood.

Songs For The Young At Heart, which also features Cerys Matthews and The Tindersticks' Stuart Staples, will be comprised of covers of children's songs and stories.

Staples and fellow Tinderstick Dave Boulter were inspired to put the album together after music triggered memories of their youth. It is to be released some time next year.

  • amazing

if only Nick Cave was on it, this would feature ALL of my favourite people ever. Brilliant.

    • You like Nick Cave?

but but but he's not twee! Or rubbish! ;)

      • Jarvis doing The Lion and Albert...

that will be damn superb. My mum used to tell me that story when I was little, in a similar northern drawl...

        • I'm going to kill you to death

with a rock in my hand and a rose between your teeth.

        • wasnt there a single

floating around last year with bpb's puff the magic dragon on it. irt was...how you say...weak. And i love the hairy master...

      • puff

how is bonny prince billy ever going to summon up the irrepressible chirpiness required to perform Puff the Magic Dragon?

      • fantastic

that's a good one, if Nick Cave wouldn't have lost in the last two/three albums it would be nice to have him there too, shame though
