No new Slipknot album 'til 2008

Popular nu-metallers - are they nu-metal? Probably not actually... - Slipknot have announced that they've no intention to release a new album until 2008.

That's literally some months away.

The band's Shawn Crahan, the one that wears a clown mask, told MTV:

"I don't think a lot of people understand this, but we're not a normal band. We are the kind of band that - because of its magnitude, it's nine people - believes in taking time off between conceptual cycles. So, we just got done with a three-and-a-half-year thing, and we played over 240 shows in 34 countries, and now, we get a break from each other - a spiritual, mental, physical break. And when we get back together, it's business, man.

"We're all alive today, so things are good. Do we want to get together and make a fourth record? Why wouldn't we?"

Why wouldn't you indeed, albeit not for a while. Still, Crahan did confirm that the band were at least working on new songs, but that they won't begin recording until the middle of 2007.

  • Did they really need to announce this?

    Since loads of bands do it and never make a point of mentioning it i.e Hot Hot Heat

    Oh, and the All-American Rejects are taking a year out. Boo hoo.

    be getting better and better with each album.

    Next one should be pretty good.

    Having said that, I don't actually own a Slipknot album, which lessens my theory somewhat...

    Let's think about it objectively.

    Just because it has melodic sections doesn't mean you should be wow-ed just because it's Slipknot doing it, the melodic sections are terrible.

    see what I mean?

    The only good slipknot song is "me inside".

  • absolutely.

    i think they should stick with the ace/fun insanely entertaining cartoon metal routine, their melodic sections (if that is indeed what everyone is taking to denote their improvement) are embarassing.

    what the hell. dude u do not go on a site about slipknot and diss them. u must have no idea about metal music cause dude slipknot are the best nu metal band in the history of mankind and they'll be the best for centurys. well there music will be. don't know about themselves personnally but its ace if they do live dat long.

    a very poor judgement to call iowa 'gash' and compare vol 3 to the sounds of bloc party ?

    slipknot continue to produce fantastic albums, everyone with numerous timeless classics, they are surviving the test of time so well each album proving it's worth with a 'go out and buy' effect.
    i am a huge fan and i look forward to the next dose of slipknot, because if anything is true based on the past it will be another classic and perhaps another brilliant download festival.
    this isn't just any music, this...is marks and spencer music

  • Slipknot Rules!

    I have no idea why you guys would diss slipknot, honestly its just music everyone has their types and if you dont like slipknot might i suggest that you stop listenin to it? I dont go bashin your fav bands now do I? no cuz i respect every artist out there whether i like them or not because they are the only ones providing us with music so plz if you guys are done bein a$$holes about it how bout we get on with our lives.
