Ben Folds is to release a collection of rare material in October, entitled supersunnyspeedgraphic, the lp. Yes, it's all one word and lower case, what about it?

Pitchfork - DiS's American brother from another mother according to, like, some people - reports that the twelve-track album will be released on October 24 on SonyBMG. That's a Tuesday, of course - expect it to be released a day earlier here, maybe. Or on some Monday or other, somewhen, soonish.

The record is, essentially, the follow-up to last year's Songs For Silverman long-player; the 'proper' follow-up to said album is being written right now. supersunny... includes songs taken from singles (b-sides, innit) and soundtracks, and features a handful of cover versions including The Darkness' 'Get Your Hands Off Of My Woman'. Motherfucker yeah.

The tracks have been remastered and all that jazz. Tracklisting as follows...

'In Between Days'
'All U Can Eat'
'Songs of Love'
'There's Always Someone Cooler Than You'
'Learn to Live With What You Are'
'Bitches Ain't Shit'
'Adelaide'
'Rent a Cop'
'Get Your Hands Off Of My Woman'
'Bruised'
'Dog'
'Still'

Rumours that Ben Folds is, in fact, a gangster with ties to LA's drug underworld are twaddle. But that is a Dr Dre cover up there. If you don't like him, blow him.

Everyday he gets so much less edgy.

My dad love him.
It'd be nice to see him do something a little different instead of sticking to his (rather sucessful) formula.

Bitches Ain't Shit...

is quality, one of my mates put it on a hip hop cd she had made me, and it fits in perfectly!

next week

bjork performs shame on a nigga
sting records don't believe the hype
paul simon collaborates with enya on the message

...possibly...

Ben Folds Five have to do a reuinion tour

one of the best live bands ever.

He does have a long term band at the minute

... same setup (piano, bass, drums) and it sounds great. Still an astonishing live act.

heehee

"brother from another mother"

i need to find more ways of using this since i saw that film

Bah

I love Ben Folds more than virtually any other living person. But this is a bit of a swizz. Between his first and second solo albums he released three 5-track EPs. And the above amounts to 11 of the 15 tracks from those, plus the Dr Dre cover (previously an iTunes exclusive).

Bah. New material please, Ben. I need my fix.

ah..

yeah most of those are from the EPs. I miss Ben Folds Five so much...they were one of the first bands I saw live, ooh nearly 10 years ago, and pretty much got me addicted to gigs and music.

And I maintain that their debut is still one of the best pop debut album. If only I can go see the gigs he's doing now with the Australian Orchestra.

yeah,

the vast majority of those tracks from those EPs.. but then, a lot of them are much better than stuff found on songs for silverman.

I

love this man. He could release a CD of him farting in to a tin can, I'd buy it.

I might stop going to see him live if he did do that, though

to think

I went to see the fun lovin' criminals in a sports hall instead of BFF on their Messner tour. doh! yes the criminals were shite.

Haven't quite got on with the 2 solo albums though. His new band sound really dull to me.
