Oxford label-types Big Scary Monsters, once home to Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and currently Meet Me In St. Louis and This Town Needs Guns amongst others, are to launch a sister label.
Taking its name from Midget's 1997 mini-album, Alcopop! is inspired by high-octane indie-pop music from the same time. Monday September 18th is the date for your diaries for more than one reason.
Firstly, it sees the launch of the bi-monthly singles club, the first single being Encyclopedia's 'Emily'. Secondly, it's the date of Alcopop!'s London launch night, headlined by - wait for it - Midget themselves! Here's the skinny:
Midget + Encyclopedia + DJ James Broad of Silver Sun.
The Social, London
18th September 2006
Tickets are a measly £4 on the door - £3 if you're a subscriber to the singles club - and to this I say, "hooray". Here's a MySpace link for more fun and games.
The original Big Scary Monsters label, meanwhile, is currently preparing a compilation of Swedish music for release in October. A single from This Town Needs Guns is released in September.
