I could see your point if it was Sigur Ros or EITS but a show with DEP and POW will have Moshing.

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK
to mosh... or not to mosh
it is a personal preference you thick bastards
some people can take it in there and like it
some people can't so don't
that's life
you can't seriously expect everyone to live at your standards can you
the world would be rubbish
because you're rubbish
because you can only see one point of view
because you're stupid
so just shut up now
Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK
Why does this really matter in the grand scheme of things?
"it is a personal preference you thick bastards"
Wow, what an insightful comment. It's almost as if none of us could have figured that out on our own.
"you can't seriously expect everyone to live at your standards can you"
Where did I say that I expected that? I simply asked what the point of moshing is. Incidentally, I'd say there's a difference between moshing and jumping around having a laugh (case in point, the recent ...TOD gig at the ULU where everyone was having a great time).
"because you're rubbish
because you can only see one point of view
because you're stupid
so just shut up now"
So you'd be perfectly happy to be deliberately punched in the face at a gig for no good reason? I'm able to see plenty of different view points, just none that involve someone trying to rearrange my face whilst I'm trying to watch a band play. Fucking cunt...

Also Loveless as you freely admit you are not a Hardcore Fan, so the crowds may well ask why should they change for you? An acoustic gig won't have moshing because it is not the done thing, at Harcore shows it is.
Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK
Best way to avoid moshing is to stand back. Which what I intend to do at the Glasgow show.

A secondary point; I would actually call myself a hardcore fan...I love bands like Dillinger, Converge, Botch, These Arms Are Snakes and Refused. I just don't feel the need to deck random people in the face to try and cover my own insecurities.

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK
I found it amazing, apart from that band 'Modern Life is War'. Pretty boring.
On the moshing issue:
Punching people or involving 'non-moshers' is totally pathetic, but I have enjoyed pretty violent moshing in the past, and am generally of the opinion that non-participants should just keep out of the way.
However, I really don't know about this seemingly new penchant for 'head-stomping'. It seems to involve getting up onstage, then running as far as you can into the crowd using peoples' heads as steppingstones. WHAT THE FUCK?
Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK
The head stomping - whatever - was unbelievable. Seriously, from my lofty vantage point over the stage I could see the faces of the front row and they WERE NOT loving it. It just got silly. People should have wised up and chilled a bit, looked out for each other, y'know?
It really pissed me off seeing the same few twats coming back up time and time and time again for more, whilst all the time these enthusiastic kids were getting smashed to fuck. I'm surprised Bannon didn't say something. When the drummer went in elbows flailing I wasn't sure whether he was making a point - ie STOP IT YOU FUCKS - or whether he was just adding to the problem.
Meh... Coverge still fuckin' own.
