Coachella 05 - REM, Interpol, Bright Eyes, Bowie in frame

It was undoutedly one of this year's finest outdoor music events and there isn't one skinny, pale music hack in the country who cannot wait to return to the sunny climbs of Palm Springs, California for next year's Coachella Valley music festival.

Independent US radio station WPGU-FM 107.1 has released this list of unconfirmed acts for next year's event. No comment has been made by organisers but we'd be very surprised if a good proportion of these acts didn't make the final cut. Still, it makes for interesting reading...

I take partial blame... Coachella is indeed in California, but I'm fairrly sure that it was an Aussie radio station that listed those bands...

What are you talking about? Of course it's in Cali. The Mojave. Palm Springs.

The article is exactly the same as this http://www.virtualfestivals.com/festivals/article.cfm?articleid=1504 so if one of these dyslexic idiots changed it to say summit about Oz cos they'd confused themselves don't blame me.

Just booking the hotel now.

The second day in particular has a stunning line-up; REM, Wilco, Modest Mouse, Jimmy Eat World, The Streets, Doves, Arcade Fire and The Postal Service on one bill is pretty special! Makes you wish you lived in California...

Note that this is something of a wish list, and that maybe 60-70% of acts listed will play, if that.

Coldplay are quite good live. Actually. Chris Martin's good live, the rest of the band jsut stand around like prawns. Incidentally, I heard a rumour the new Coldplay record's been influenced by Chris Martin's fondness for RnB. Please tell me this is not true, someone.

According to this on the Coachella site it's a hoax to get people excited... which worked. Unless the 'it's a hoax' post is itself a hoax.

I've repeatedly asked the gods why they've seen fit to allow the forces of nature to keep me in SoCal. I was beginning to think I wasn't a favorite son. But now it all makes sense!

Holy moly, that's one helluva wish list, eh?! Put EATB and BSP on the bill and you cover virtually my entire music library. I'd be able to die May 2 happy and content!!
